I know you've watched this team for as long or longer than me, and my memory goes back for about 3.5 decades.

It can always get worse...and my memory is getting worse the older I get, too.

The Meltdown already took place at FedEx Field.

National Football League - Dennis Allen NFL Career

With the Atlanta Falcons, Allen was a defensive quality control coach from 2002 to 2003 then defensive assistant from 2004 to 2005.[6] Allen then moved to the New Orleans Saints, as defensive line coach from 2006 to 2007 before being secondary coach from 2008 to 2010. The Saints won Super Bowl XLIV in 2009, in which the Saints ranked 3rd in interceptions despite giving up 321 yards per game.[7] After his success with the Saint's secondary, he was hired to be the Denver Broncos Defensive Coordinator. The Broncos defense were in the bottom half of yards allowed, ranked 23rd, but were 5th in the league in sacks in 2011

As coach:

Texas A&M (GA) (1996–1999)
Tulsa (secondary) (2000–2001)
Atlanta Falcons (defensive QC) (2002–2003)
Atlanta Falcons (defensive asst.) (2004–2005)
New Orleans Saints (asst. DL) (2006–2007)
New Orleans Saints (secondary) (2008–2010)
Denver Broncos (DC) (2011)
Oakland Raiders (2012–2014)
New Orleans Saints (Defensive Coordinator) (2015–present)

The first Dennis Allen thread?

How were his defenses in Atlanta, Denver?

Not so hot, it appears.

Be interesting to see if he has the respect of the players or will they not buy in to what he's gonna try to accomplish

We have plenty of 4-3 guys. We have more 4-3 talent than 3-4.

People need to realize, it can't possibly get any worse. Not unless they physically add more teams to the league..... Right now there is no further down to go, than #32.

At this point, what difference does it make who is piloting the titanic? If Allen is the long term fix looking toward next year, great, but if not, what's the point.

Absolutely correct. We actually have quite few pieces suitable for a 3-4. We are missing a true two-gap NT, 3-4 Ends and I think Kikaha for one is more suited to play in a 4-3.
