Re: Officiating
Todays society does not accept or can not tolerate "gray areas", "judgement calls", it's all about absolutes and 100% certainty……all of which people have put faith in technology to make sure a catch is a catch, a fumble is a fumble, runner was in or out……all bs in my book. Unless common sense is put back into the rule book, we are screwed, and my friends it will only get worse!

Re: Officiating
I think for the most part the refs do the best they can with what they have to work with (the rule book). The rules have gotten so convoluted it's hard to make judgement calls anymore. The rule constituting what is and isn't a catch is case in point. As well as PI calls. No doubt they make some bad calls. That has always been a part of the game. I don't like replay because it takes the human element out of the game. It's dumbed down the officiating. I think most of them feel that they don't have to be accurate with the call because they know replay will sort it out. But I digress back to the rule book. The Beckham non-TD last week. He didn't make a move to become a runner in the end zone so it's not a TD? There are two things in the NFL I wouldn't want to be, an official and a DB.
