Re: What are your real expectations IF we fire everyone
Also I'd like to point out that last year, about 1/3 of the way into the season everyone was thinking "The patriots are finish, Brady is in decline... yada yada", then they turned things around and starting playing good ball. Even good coaches hit a wall, then they have to figure out how to break through.

Re: What are your real expectations IF we fire everyone
Fellas, no matter if you want to keep Payton or move in a different direction, there's no reason to be afraid of changes, if that does happen. This is not the pre-free agency NFL. With the salary cap you can't just sit around and wait for everyone to grow up, because by the time they do, half of them will probably be gone.
At the same time, it doesn't have to take years to rebuild. That's the way the league is structured. It's why the league is so incredibly mediocre... So few teams are ever built to last. If you find the right coaches and management, you might have a chance. Maybe we won't be good for another 15 years, but I'd be willing to bet it won't take very long at all, if the Saints do things right. Whether that means Payton getting a grip, and figuring out how to right the ship, or bringing someone else in, we'll just have to see. But I'm not afraid to see a change, if it comes to that. |

The problem with Payton is he likes to gamble. Unfortunately, overall the players he's gambled on have been ineffective. Goodwin. Lelito, Coleman and Browner have failed to live up to expectations. I believe Ireland did a good job reining in Payton during the draft this year. |

I'm just going to play the Super Bowl Winning season over and over and over on my DVD player Year after year after year. I'm good.

Keep the O-coaches and get rid of the D coaches and start runnnig a 3-4. O would look good with a few pieces and so would the D.

It doesn't seem to me like he has much of a grip on things. I'm willing to put up with the rest of this season in hopes that they start showing signs of improvement by next year, but if this continues it's time to move on. Again, this isn't a league where you build slowly. The organizations that stay on top are the one's who are most decisive in making changes before players and schemes get stale, and not over-paying so many players that it compromises the rest of the roster. We just rode this thing right into the ground. |
