It wasn’t pretty at first. Things actually got worse before they got better.
But eventually, the New Orleans Saints defense showed signs of progress during Sunday’s debut of new coordinator Dennis Allen. After allowing touchdowns on the Houston Texans’ first two drives, the Saints settled in and held Houston to 10 points the rest of the way in a 24-6 loss. “We had some plays we want back, but I thought we were consistent. I thought our tackling was better,” said safety Kenny Vaccaro, who led the Saints with 13 tackles. “We lost this game, but I thought we progressed a little bit as a defense. I say, take Breaux as an example...he started out strong, showed promise, a lot of raw talent in that kid. But in the more recent games he's not been graded as well, he's slid into mediocrity, now that the coaching staff has gotten a hold of him and "coached him up." Came in hot, looked sharp, now with each passing week it's like he's rapidly going flat on us. It's gotta be the coaching.

I saw improvement from the defense.
I saw suck from the offense. One game isn't gonna tell us anything about Dennis Allen. |

lipstick on a pig,,,,lipstick on a pig. Progress is measured over time. At least Hoyer didn't set any NFL records. At this point, I am pleased we at least made a change. One game is too early for gauge anything. The measure is from game one probably through the end of season, to see who wants to be part of the program and who deserves to be part of the program. It's probably an audition for a lot of guys.

After the first two drives; the defense were at least forcing them to punt... Something that Ryan was having trouble getting them to do, Browner was giving up a lot of penalties on 3rd down. Guess what; Browner wasn't flagged but once I believe all game.
Improvement right there... |

Houston final game stats:
362 yards given up 6/13 on 3rd down 2 turnovers 24 points That's a start right? Allen has a long way to go but I think he simplifies the defense going forward. Edit: I think this defense will slowly improve . |
