Gumbo, I just can\'t buy into you\'re thought of the QB getting too much of the blame. If this was the guy\'s first year in the system, then I could see sticking up for the guy. That\'s not the case here. Now, I understand what you\'re trying to do here, and I can respect that, but you\'re waaaaaaaaaaay off the mark here.

First, I\'d like to see someone start a thread with Panther\'s fans and see if anyone would be interested in swapping Jake for AB. Man, there would be so much poo thrown at you for that, your grandkids would be getting hate email.

Second, you\'re not going to see Panther\'s fans trying to get rid of Jake because he\'s performed for them on the large stage. It\'s not like it was fans were calling for Jake\'s head. They were just stating that he had a crap game. He\'s made many a comeback for them and this was only his second year starting. He led them to a Super Bowl. As a matter of fact, if they could have completed the comeback it\'s a sure thing that he would have been named MVP. He\'s actually accomplished something worth noting. Not something worth noting because the franchise has historically sucked, but something worth noting because there were 30 other teams last year wishing their QB had done what Carolina\'s QB had.

Now, I know you can\'t realistically do it, but I\'d be willing to bet you couldn\'t find 10 teams in the league that would swap their starting QB for ours. AB has all the talent in the world, but what he needs can\'t be taught. He needs grit and determination. Until he develops that refusal to lose, he will be a continual disappointment. I\'m not saying let\'s just dump the guy, but this team has got to start giving the guy a reason to stay sharp. We need someone competent behind this guy, because I just can\'t keep doing the just miss the playoffs thing every year. IT\'S GONNA DRIVE ME TO PROZAC MAN!!!!!

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your crotch, and your arms be too short to scratch.

kevinn1972-

Jakes only been in Carolina 2 years. So... no, there aren\'t a bunch of fans calling for Jake\'s head YET!!

But, there are already some fans who have suggested that:

I for one hope we upgrade at the backup QB position. Honestly Delhomme should have been sitting in the second half if we had a back up worth a damn. I want someone good enough to come in and provide a spark when Jake has a game like that. Honestly Jake played worse in the first half of the Saints game than Peete did in the first half against Jacksonville last year. We need another Jake to come in and replace Jake when Jake sucks it up next year. Get my point?
Good point - Jake would have been sitting in the 4th quarter, at least, last Sunday if we had a back-up the coaches had even a smidgen of faith in.

I honestly believe Rutherford is our new 3rd string QB. As for our back-up, I think part of it depends on Moose and the salary cap. If we have the money, we should definitely seek to upgrade the vet back-up QB position
Then there are some folks questioing Jakes progress:

I\'m sorry to point out that Jake would not have had the blind side hit matter if he didn\'t hold the ball so long. In two years he still hasn\'t figured out that an incomplete pass beats a sack every time.
There\'s not much I can add to what I\'ve already said. I\'m not here to knock Delhomme. I don\'t like the guy, by any stretch of the imagination, but I know when a QB receivestoo much blame.

Give the Panthers one more year without going to the playoffs and I\'ll betcha there will be a bunch of Panthers\' fans wanting to get another QB.

It really doens\'t matter if the QB is the reason for a team not being successful, there\'s always going to be a bunch of fans who want to replace the QB. Some of \'em just want to replace him to see if that is indeed the problem. Some will want to replace him just because the QB position is the spot that makes the most differece.

Sometimes a person needs to be shown a different perspective, IMHO.
Absolutely. So tell me, how do you feel about those Miami fans calling AB a bum and fretting the idea of AB in Miami? Just wondering - does that make you think AB criticism is more justified? Or do you think that all QB criticism is unjustified?

I wonder how many games Miami fans have watched Brooks\' play? I\'m guessing not many!

ESPN highlighted a couple of blunders AB made and fans around the country got to see \'em. And I\'m sure AB perception was influenced by that.

How do you feel about what the PANTHERS FANS said about Delhomme?

You told me that the \"evidence\" here at B&G showed that I was wrong and you guys were right.

Anyway, I don\'t want to get into a pissing contest here..lol..

There\'s really not much more I can say that I haven\'t said. This thing might get outta control. I\'m not knocking Delhomme. Strangely enough, I\'m defending him.
