last one before free agent signings start
1. SF Cedric Benson RB TEX, they do want to move down badly but this is a year where they will be the ones having to sacrifice to do it. rodgers and smith are neither true #1 picks. they pick up a free agent qb or go with rattay and build with benson. they'll be odds on favorites if leinart neters the supplemental draft as rumored. 2. MIA Ronnie Brown RB AUB, defensive minded saban is tempted by dj but the need is too great and brown might be a much greater nfl back than he was in college even. 3. CLEV Derrick Johnson LB TEX, crennel knows defense wins, dj may be the best and surest thing on either side of the ball in this draft 4. CHI Braylon Edwards WR MICH, him or mike williams here is the surest early pick. 5. TB Cadillac Williams RB AUB, some line needs are greater but no one rates this high, fa rb acquisition could make this braylon edwards, rolle, or pacman 6. TEN Antrelle Rolle CB MIA, another trade down wanted here. suitors to move up if a top 3 rb, a top 2 wr, or dj (including n.o.) are still available. otherwise they replace one rolle with another. 7. OAK Mike Williams WR USC, the most bang for the buck player in this scenario although the needs are great and the options many 8. ARZ Aaron Rodgers QB CAL, not dennis green style but could be if they feel he can step right into the job. a big pay cut from being #1 pick 9. WASH Troy Williamson WR SC, gibbs might want a de or cb more but top 2 wr's gone necessitates it. williamson zooming up charts past clayton. 10. DET Pacman Jones CB WV, going for best defensive player available. some have him ahead of rolle 11. DAL Marcus Spears DE LSU, a glaring need and a rare rookie that parcells might love. cb with pick #20 12. SD Dan Cody DE OK, sacks needed (d. howard even cheaper bolts) wideout with pick #28 13. HOU Alex Barron OT FSU, texans pleasantly surprised to find top insurance policy for david carr on board even tho a pass rusher is needed as well 14. CARO Heath Miller TE VIR, they consider ot brown but add a target to go with steve smith and colbert with muhammed gone 15. NO Thomas Davis LB/SS GEO, a wild scenario for saints here. trading down a possibility if someone wants qb alex smith still on board. a low 2nd or 3rd to move down 4-6 spots would be fair. desired targets davis, travis johnson, and several cb's still around. jammal brown ot okla could be just as good of a pick also. too high here for lb's crowder or burnett. merriman is worth it but a 3-4 lb/de prototype. so my big mock news is rodgers going from top 3 to 8 and smith not landing yet at 16. he would be the greatest value pick for n.o. would they? they have proven to go for value when falling (deuce, smith)even at strong positions. should they if such a scenario evolved? it could be a very favorable development as brees/rivers in sd. or just provide a fresh alternative during another 3 game losing streak. whaddya say? |

poor webster could have gotten top 10 money a year ago. he is falling on most boards and could still be there at saint pick #40 this year with the cb depth and his play falling off (too many risk moves and injuries imo).
what say ye if smith is still there tho? yea or nay? |

Depending on how we do in FA, I do not think that Smith is a bad pick.

I was reading one of espn\'s chats with mueller and he said that cbs are the hardest players to predict in the draft..
i just really would rather wait on a cb and the only one I really like is Rogers (cuz I saw him daily..)and maybe rolle (gene pool, miami).. webster scares me..thatr whole LSU team underacheived badly-and I don\'t think it was just the coach. |

You can\'t say that b/c a team didn\'t win back to back national champonships they are underachaiving. While I wouldn\'t think of wasting a first round pick on webster, our second round spot looks about right.
