Re: Drew Brees in ‘horrible, miserable pain,’ still wants to play
Doesn't want to give the rookie a chance. Job security.

Drew stop think of yourself. Sit your butt down. These are two meaningless games.

Re: Drew Brees in ‘horrible, miserable pain,’ still wants to play
I LOVE the fact that Drew wants to play.
That being said, Sean better sit his tail on IR and let him get well. If he's trade bait, you don't risk your investment on a team that is 5-9 and watching the playoffs on TV like the rest of us. If he's your 2016 QB, you don't risk next season for the same reason. Play whoever (Flynn or Grayson) and get this season over with... |
Re: Drew Brees in ‘horrible, miserable pain,’ still wants to play
I think I'm now firmly on the "sit him" bandwagon.
He's hurt (If he wasn't hurt, he plays, end of story) But since he's hurt... We're out of the playoffs We have a young QB that could use the experience We have a young QB that could use some evaluation As Brees ages little injuries like this are going to occur more and more. We really need to evaluate/develop our back-ups. The last two games could tell us a lot about Grayson, or even Flynn. We absolutely should have a Plan-B QB ready to step in just in case Drew misses several games. You simply can not replicate game speed in practice or pre-season. Lets see what the kid's got. What Payton needs is reassurance from Benson/Loomis that winning or losing these last two games won't effect his decision on coaching changes. If Payton is 100% sure that he'll be back in 2016, he may be more comfortable with benching Brees these last two games. |

Maybe Brees wants to play because he's hearing about the media and other team's fans doubting his ability to be a elite QB.

You sir are right on all points Danno. But Drew also needs to believe that he will get the same contract offer regardless of his injury status these last two weeks. This offseason is the right time to extend Drew's contract and Loomis has been waiting to renegotiate in 2016. |

Re: Drew Brees in ‘horrible, miserable pain,’ still wants to play
Sounds more like he wants to pad his stats for the season. He makes selfish decisions at times. Like the time he clearly injured his shoulder but wouldn't come out of game and through several interceptions. When you begin hurting the team because you want to play injured is not smart by any means. He may be the face of the team but this is still a team sport. The "Team" comes first. If he had no backup, I could understand him wanting to play, but this is Drew just being selfish. (IMO)
