It would be nearly a stupid as giving Galette his contract

Only way we trade Cam is a sign and trade whereby the first year numbers would be reduced to minimize the Saints cap hit...

Here's my take on Cam; he needs to get back to being a more well-rounded defensive end - setting the edge - and set up faster players like Kikaha and others to make the sacks...

I'd have no problems keeping Cam and paying him at that cap number if he would be more unselfish in that regard, because the results for the team would be more positive...

But that's also going to take alot of trust in the coaches and their schemes - which I still find very suspect, questionable at this time; especially when you look at how the rookie play seem to be minimized down the stretch and Allen's history...

For quicker results on the field, we'd have to rework a few contracts (i.e. Brees, Jordan, Byrd) get some add'l cap room and go after NT Damon Harrison and DE Malick Jackson, proven veterans that this coaching staff historically has preferred...

I just hope whoever we draft at number 1 will be able to step right in and start. I am tired of these players they have to "Bring along slowly". I still dont like the Peat signing. And if we sign another 2nd rounder with a huge upside that never winds up seeing the field I am going to scream. I say pick whoever is left at our spot who can step right in, unless its a kicker.

Funny thing is Payton might give Allen some gifts since he's one of the good ole' boys in the likes of Reed and Butler in the 1st and 2nd round. To be honest it wouldn't be a bad move to get those 2, it would make Jenkins expendable.

That is just asonine. This might take the cake for stupidest post ever.

IF the best player available is at No. 12 is a quarterback, would we not take that quarterback?!?

I like Laquon Treadwell, Jarran Reed and Kevin Dodd...

But if it's a quarterback, why not?

JP, I like him too but the Saints having been consistently top 3 in offense and dead last in defense is like running in place and not going no where.

We need defense 1st round... round 2, 3 is another story.

Defense needs to be addressed, but we may address a lot of that in free agency.

The draft is about the future. In 2 or 3 years when Brees is gone, I'd sure like his replacement to have some top WR's to work with.

Treadwell can be a difference maker for many years to come.

I think we take BPA at 12 even if it an offensive weapon.

1st Round - Defense, Defense, Defense, Defense, Defense

2nd Round - if Coleman the WR from Baylor is there, that's who I want (if he gone, a 6' or taller WR)

3rd Round - Offensive Line

4th Round - Defense

5th Round - Defense

7th Round - Offensive Line

Put my GM hat back on and here is my thought process on who the Saints will select at #12 ;) :

MUST: Interior offensive and defensive lineman
NEED: Coverage LB, pass rusher
WANT: WR, TE,

Here is a quick read by Underhill :Evaluating the problem areas within the Saints’ pass defense | The New Orleans Advocate — New Orleans, Louisiana

Best ways to address? Sign a DE and a sub package DT in FA. - Olivier Vernon, Venny Curry, Robert Ayers, Henry Melton , Tony McDaniels, Tyrunn Walker are all available FA's that shouldn't command high contracts.

Edit: I'd even push a coverage LB up to a must.

Needs are typically addressed in free agency. Reaching for needs destroys teams. There may not be any elite lineman available when we pick at 12.
