Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

So I just did my rankings for OLB............not going to post vids, just rank them and describe some. Btw, I only counted those that should be third round. I did not include Jack, Smith, Floyd, and Lee.

1.Jordan Jenkins(is he related to our Jenkins?)
I was mostly impressed by him more than the others and he is the lowest ranked by CBS of those I looked at. However, he had a dominant game against Vanderbilt and held his own against Bama(while the rest of the defense didn't).

2.Joshua Perry
He's actual second round projected but I think he could fall to third as he's the fifth on the board. The rest just exhibited so many flaws and Perry appeared to play solid but not spectacular against MSU.

3.Kamalei Correa
He had some nice plays in the tape I saw against Virginia. Virginia is considered one of the lesser teams in the ACC I know but they are a big school. It is a risk though getting someone from Boise State.

4.Kyler Fackrell
Another who had solid plays but the best I could get(and only) was against Colorado State.

5.Deion Jones
Looked better against Florida compared to Bama but for a school like LSU you expect more.

This one's going to surprise.........

6.Su'a Cravens
Why do I rank him this low? Because he's 1.not big enough 2.didn't look all that great to me against the likes of Stanford and ND and 3.He played for USC. USC has not been a contender in a long time and it's due to the fact that the school is known more for it's party nature. Players go there to have fun and to eventually get paid NFL money. How has Marquise Lee and Nelson Agholor done so far in the NFL(I know, receivers)? It takes these players a while to catch on once in the pros due to maturity issues. I can never endorse a pick from USC, ever.

Deion Jones i give a flyer to considering he has started for only one year. that begs the question, why only one?

So with all of that out of the way here are a number of draft lists.

Round 1...Jerran Reed or Shaq Lawson
Round 2...Michael Thomas
Round 3...Jonathan Bullard or Adolphus Washington
Round 4...Guard
Round 5...Matt Ioanniddis

Round 1....Laquan Treadwell
Round 2....Jonathan Bullard
Round 3....Adolphus Washington
Round 4....Guard
Round 5....Matt Ioanniddis
Round 7....Willie Henry

Personally DT is deeper than DE. I think it's best to get a DE first, and wait for the third round to get a DT. We could just go 1-2 with DT, DE and hope Thomas falls to third round or we will be trusting Coleman.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

Over thinking things here. As a project is he worth the time? watch yall think?

T.J. Green FS CLEMSON 6024 209 4.34
Hands 9 5/8 Arms 32
Short shuttle: 4.41 seconds
3-cone drill: 7.1 seconds

One-year starter.
Raw Raw as could be. But the measurable are off the chart. Tackling and coverage skills did improve this year.

So is there enough upside to justify a 3 or 4 to let a kid keep on learning?

Saints worked out Maryland pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue, newspaper reports | NOLA.com

Hagan, what are your thoughts on this guy's production in college? I didn't see any Maryland games last season.

Yannick Ngakoue (en gah ko way) compares as a leaner Hau'oli Kikaha or Pat Swilling; he has progressed well each season, and probably should have played his senior year so he could be a possible first day draft candidate; terrific size for a 3-4 OLB, but lacks the sand to set the edge as a DE in a 3-4 or a Jack in a 4-3 under; needs to develop better hand technique to unlatch blockers; needs to diversify his pass rush portfolio; because of his compact, chiseled frame he'll be limited to a 3rd down pass rusher role until he gets enough bulk to set the edge and help with the run defense; not sure where he fits in Dennis Allen's (aka Gregg Williams') 4-3 system; he's a projected 6th rounder, which we traded away with our 6th rounder last season to move up and take Damian Swann, a projected 6th rounder last season...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Thanks JP. I hope Swann will be OK this season. Lots of discussion about his future, overall health and well being.

Hey, loved the guys fire, spirit, I just didn't understand why they felt the need to carelessly, casually give two picks to move up and grab a guy that was probably going to be there in the 6th; I'm not optimistic about his health and would rather see the young man step back and really re-consider his future track...

JP pretty much nailed it

What I can say about Marylands defense unit as whole is why I like this group.

There is no reason they did as well as they did and hung in there each and every game. The defense was the heart and soul of the team and they all came to work with their big boy pants on. They played well as a unit. They are all well coached and know their responsibilities.

Athleticism is one thing but having your head screwed on straight is another. blue collar, lunch pail toting players the lot of them. Those that know me know that is a high praise in my book. I went out of my to watch this unit play.

Yannick Ngakoue has probably more upside than the media scouts are giving the kid. He is tough as nails and has a controlled nasty streak in his game. He is the type of player that is pigeon holed as to short and athleticism is questionable. But do not be surprised to see this kid have a long productive career in the NFL.

They talk about his pass rushing a lot or the lack of but do not over look the kids ability to set the edge against the run. Defiantly one of the better ones in the draft. Pass rush is were the upside is under rated in this kid. Should have stayed in school and worked on his moves.

Sean Davis was one of my favs from this team. A leader in a group of players like this says so much more than a leader on an under performing team like OSU for example. Explains my man crush?

"We may have lost the game, but you'll be hurting tomorrow." Doug Atkins
