No. 012 (R1, 12) DE Shaq Lawson, Clemson; Height: 6' 3"; Weight: 270 lbs.

No. 012 (R1, 12) DE DeForest Buckner, Oregon; Height: 6' 7"; Weight: 290 lbs.

No. 012 (R1, 12) LB Reggie Ragland, Alabama; Height: 6' 2"; Weight: 252 lbs.

I don't understand wasting a 1st round pick on a WR...
We had 2 1000+yrd WRs and very promising young talent, not to mention we are looking at the best passing offense in the NFL.

This draft is rich in talent on the front 7, we should load up as much as possible.

sell me on him .
First round talent sure but top 15?
huge gamble on upside?

I just did not see it on the field on a consistent level because IMO he is a media hype darling

He is a play maker, not just the upside. From what I read he has a good motor and doesn't give up on plays, which typically guys his size do. Is he top 15? Maybe, I wouldn't be disappointed with the pick.

Hey Hagan714,
Give your impressions of Carl Nassib DE - Penn State.

I also like Jarran Reed (Alabama- DT), Myles Jack -UCLA OLB (he can COVER).

Think Reed will go in the 2nd? He does the dirty work and thats what we need.

First thing I would do is get an OL coach, one with real nasty schemes that piss defenders off. I mean nasty. Second, trade to move up and get the best OL pick we can get into this new scheme. Next a DT than can bust through on 3rd down. He will only be used on 3rd and 4th down. All the other picks who cares.

How many times did we have 3rd and long and we had no one who could go out, physically match up, block out against a DB and grab the big reception to keep a drive going or even score?!?

We can move the ball up and down between the 20's with the best of them...

But we often struggled in 3rd and longs and in the red zone on particularly crucial conversions and it showed in the W-L column...

And this is why you grabbed the rarer talent; I'd have have a number of rotational, younger guys on defense; guys that will still be there in later rounds...

But since age has caught up with Colston and the Graham trade, we haven't had that defense killer that kept drives going or that jumpball red zone threat..

Carl Nassib - he is not going to dazzle anyone with athletic ability that is for sure. But he has more desire and heart than probably any player in the draft. IMO he is the top blue collar lunch pail toting DE in the draft. With that said the only concern is the fact he is a one year wonder. Draft him and hold your breath and see what you got. He is one one of those players i would not target but if we drafted him my reaction would be on of sigh but lets see what happens. no one truely knows what you will be getting. he is a player that the pro days, combine and bowls will make or break in the draft.

Want to take about the same risk without the high draft pick his team mate, Anthony Zettel has basically the same positives and negatives yet a bit more athletic but not as well built. He is one I am watching closely during the pre draft. 2nd vs 5th. He needs to bulk up but he is all about desire and heart also. As a 43 late round DE development pick he is high on my wish list.

Jarren Reed - He is the unsung impact player of the Bama front 4. People started to see his ability late in the season. Is he good because of the unit as a whole or is he just that good. If sacks are your thing look elsewhere. If you are looking DT that is gap disciplined and plug the middle, set the edge and get those tackles for losses look no further. He can be a DT in 43 and a DE in a 34. Love this kids versitility. But the risk appears to be there with being part of a unit. I am waiting to see what his does at the bowls pro day and combine before final judgement. do not be surprised to see him go much earlier than most think. He has just as good of a chance to be the first Bama defender selected as the other right now IMO. do not over look Jarran Reed either

Myles Jack - test that knee! If you want a LB that can do just about anything as an OLB you need look no further. There is one area I am concerned about is making tackles in a crowd. Tackles in the open field is not an issue. But get in there in the phone both with the big boys, he has questions to answer. As a LB that can make the highlight reels it is probably the safest pick in the draft. If that knee checks out and the saints pick him I will conclude the saints are tried of TE eating them up game after game after game. He also has the ability to blow up swing passes and those annoying sweeps that always get 8 yards each and every time they run it. If we draft him in round 1 we will know early on in the draft we are a 43 defense also.

I know he can make the highlight reels but I have seen games were he disappears all together. I worry about his football IQ. He appears to be a bit slow in read react ability IMO. One thing to be overally aggressive and over run play. It is another to just show up late on a regular clip. Maybe more playing time and coaching can change it. If it does he will be a beast. But in the first round, this high I would pause. At this point in the draft IMO that is a huge flaw in his game. The draft interview would make or break this kid for me.

There is always a concern I have DL and OL players that play against mostly spread offenses in college. They all need more coaching to understand the differences in the pro game. So maybe I am more skeptical and critical with these players

That is the key for me.

We have seen physical talent like his before, but if he can't play the game intelligently it won't matter.
