Yup, and increased his guarantee. That is the win/win I mentioned earlier in this thread ... and about five hundred other times over the past three years on this site.

No, I have worked with the sports media (was one) and the average one knows less about finance than your average homeless person. Honestly.

No cutting or trading at this point.

Depends how the O-line gets fixed wheathr Brees is worth whatever he gets or don't get. I would hate to see a high dollar qb. having to run for his life. Brees isn't a spring chicken anymore.

We lose Brees and we can kiss being competitive bye bye for several years. He is still a better option than anyone else out there or anyone else in the next couple of years drafts. He has plenty left in the tank. Get a good receiver in the draft and be on the lookout for a replacement that can come in in a year or two and sit for a year before taking over. Brees can still get it done at an elite level for two or three more years if we can get him another receiver to throw to and some help up front.
No sense in getting rid of a franchise QB just because it feels like time for a change from some fans. Extend his contract like the above poster said. We can afford a defense. We have more money tied up in defense than we do in offense if you exclude Brees. Loomis got us the money to build a very good defense. The scouting and coaching staff just made poor choices on who to spend that money on. |

Anyone wanting to see Grayson right now and Brees traded is a crack pot in my opinion. This can be fixed with the right draft and some shrewd FA signings.

His cap hits are now… 2016 – 5 million + 10 (cap hit 15 million) 2017 – 5 million + 10 (cap hit 15 million) 2018 – 5 million + 10 (cap hit 15 million) At this point he has pocketed 55 million from the Saints. 2019 – 5 million + 10 (cap hit 15 million, if cut it costs us 10 million in dead money) 2020 – 5 million + 10 (cap hit 15 million, if cut it costs us 5 million in dead money) |
