The 6-foot, 220-pound Gold started six games for the Broncos at weakside linebacker in 2003 before being put on injured reserve with a ligament tear in his right knee Oct. 12. Gold's best season was in 2002 where he had 100-tackles and 6.5 sacks. Last year, his first year since the knee injury, Gold played in all 16-games for the Bucs where he had 71-tackles and .5 sacks. It usually takes 2-years to come back from the type of injury Gold had. Gold has been released by the Bucs and could be one of those "affordable" players the Saints like to sign. If so, this might be a good pickup. Is Haslett and co. content with our young LBs? Would this be a good move? |
