The 6-foot, 220-pound Gold started six games for the Broncos at weakside linebacker in 2003 before being put on injured reserve with a ligament tear in his right knee Oct. 12. Gold's best season was in 2002 where he had 100-tackles and 6.5 sacks. Last year, his first year since the knee injury, Gold played in all 16-games for the Bucs where he had 71-tackles and .5 sacks. It usually takes 2-years to come back from the type of injury Gold had. Gold has been released by the Bucs and could be one of those "affordable" players the Saints like to sign. If so, this might be a good pickup. Is Haslett and co. content with our young LBs? Would this be a good move? |

I was all over this guy last offseason when he was supposedly a \"big name.\" He was quietly consistent from what I saw with the Bucs. Maybe we get him for less this season. I don\'t see the downside either.

Less, I don\'t think so. He\'s out of our range. He was cut because he met his incentives and his contract blew up to around the 34 million range. He will not be affordable although I was pushing for us to sign him last year also. Great linebacker who management will not put out the cash for.
