Jerry ain't that stupid.

Like Lee909 said, nobody is touching Spiller with that salary. Past offseason Patriots offerd him decent contract but we interfered with ludicrous offer and made Belichick really mad. This season they changed like 3 guys at that position and still got nice production from 3rd down backs. (Lewis, Bolden, White...) . Lewis was playing great and got nice extension (2 yrs, 2,6 mil). Unfortunately he got hurt and now White is playing in that role.

Man didn't he take the money and ran. Ran right over to the IR list.

I think he was placed on IR so they could look at some of the younger talent on the PS and protect them by having them finish the season on the active roster.

As far as how he played....he had that awesome catch and run against the Clowns and was the hero. Then he just disappeared. It was weird. Almost like he pissed off Payton.

I had high hopes for Spiller and was looking for his production this season.
Elusiveness and break away speed were nowhere to be found.
But he was in good company with his lack of performance.
I hope he gets healthy and can become a "good" 3rd down option next season.

I never really wanted Spillers. I was wanting a sledge-hammer but after we signed him I thought he would play well enough, now I'm really, really wanting a sledge-hammer.

Unfortunately I believe we'll probably see a repeat performance next year. I hope his knee finally gets better like Hightower did. If so then great. If not we have depth at that one position and should be fine at RB.
