this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Tom Coughlin is available. He'd be my pick. Guarantee Training Camp wouldnt be at a Country Spa, it would be in Mississippi. (he's on NFL Films, asking Houston guys why they practice in the bubble, says, "I would use that." ...

If we dont get Payton back...
Tom Coughlin is available. He'd be my pick.
Guarantee Training Camp wouldnt be at a Country Spa, it would be in Mississippi. (he's on NFL Films, asking Houston guys why they practice in the bubble, says, "I would use that." (referring to the heat) I know the Giants D struggled this year, but historically, he's had strong Defenses. Couple of Super Bowl Rings. Even Jacksonville was above respectable under his lead. But for the record, I want Payton back, if he wants to be back. |

Re: If we dont get Payton back...
I doubt Payton is coming back, but seriously who knows for sure. Saints are smokescreen masters. If Payton doesn't comeback, I could see the logic with a guy like Tom Coughlin. I want to throw this out there, why doesn't Pete Carmichael get any consideration? I don't think I ever see his name floating around for head coaching gigs. Yeah, we all know that Payton is pretty much calling the shots, but here is a guy in Carmichael you would think has had some exceptional training and should be at least be interviewing around the league???

I think Payton has a press conference today at 1 pm. So I'm expecting, more like praying, he says im staying and all the media people are full of it.

If Sean Payton leaves, Saints should keep his offense - New Orleans Saints Blog- ESPN
Pretty decent piece there about the possibility of keeping Carmichael around to keep the offence running even if SP would leave. It makes sense if you ask me. |

I wouldn't be opposed to Caughlin. I think he is done though, he's old as dirt. He sure doesn't let his teams give up.

Re: If we dont get Payton back...
Truly believe Payton stays. Again I think it has to do with the ownership case with Benson and his family and an extension for Drew. Extend Drew for 3 years and make it clear for Payton if ownership structure changes he can leave if he wants
