Saints scheduled to visit with Nick Fairley, sign Jamarca Sanford

The Saints made the signing of linebacker James Laurinaitis official on Thursday and that may not be the only defensive player they pick up from the 2015 Rams.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that defensive tackle Nick Fairley is set for a visit with the Saints. Fairley spent last season with the Rams after four years with the Lions.

Fairley played 15 games with the Rams last season and had 29 tackles and a half-sack as part of a strong defensive line rotation in St. Louis. He started 30 games during his last three years in Detroit.

Fairley has also drawn interest from the Eagles and Jets since the start of free agency. The Jets signed Jarvis Jenkins and Steve McLendon this week, however, and may be out of the market for further additions to the defensive line at the moment.

The Saints also announced that they have re-signed safety Jamarca Sanford. He appeared in all 16 games last season and saw most of his action on special teams.

Jamarca Sanford is a solid resigning.

Nick Fairley has a bit of a history but the last few years have been calm so it would appear he has grown up. safe FA in that his history should keep the contract reasonable and flexible. Insensitive could be key.

Hey our punter is a bit of an issue but his contract is such the saints have all the power in redoing it. very dead friendly.

Sadly he'd be an upgrade for us.

CB Brandon Boykin is still out there and keeps getting cheaper by the day. Slot coverage was a huge issue last year.

I like BB as well. Played extremely well in Pitt last season. We will be crowded at the position going into camp but PJ & Swann are huge question marks & KL can't seem to get healthy. Not so sure we target a CB in FA.

I could see the FO draft another CB in later rounds.

Could not agree more. BB would be a great singing. I think we have enough cap space to work a deal out.

Rd 7 Mike Jordan, CB/FS, Missouri Western 6006 200 4.50

This aproach is way too stupid and irresponsible.
Last offseason Lelito was one "option" , then he became "the solution". We all know how that worked out... Ask Drew.
