Buccaneers | Salary Cap Situation Getting Worse - from www.KFFL.com
Thu, 24 Feb 2005 10:46:52 -0800 Roy Cummings and Katherine Smith, of the Tampa Tribune, report the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently $17 million over the 2005 salary cap this year, according to general manager Bruce Allen, and the situation could worsen in the coming days. The increase is the result of adjustments in players' contracts that include bonuses paid to those who have exceeded specified levels of playing time or performance goals. |

I don\'t know about you Gum, but I would love to see us go after Derrick Brooks (one of the major cap problems) and take him off their hands. Our LB\'s has to be our weakest link and he would immediately have a tremendous impact....
But it would probably cause us to have the same cap troubles in a year or two. |

They have a strong defense. Let\'s pick \'em apart . Wouldn\'t mind Galloway sporting the Black and Gold either. But he just got there, so he\'s proably not going anywhere.

Galloway = He is terrible since he left Seattle. Did nothing at Dallas, did nothing with Tampa. And he has a hefty contract. Anyone but him.

Derrick would be a great pickup. I don\'t know what\'s going on down there in \"Gruden Land\", but somehow they are going to have to find a way to get under the cap. I\'ll be keeping my eye on them to see which players they release. |

I read a story the other day that stated the Bucs are going to to unload Johnson and Griese. The next two pieces of the puzzle will be Brooks and Barber, both of which are about to the point of unaffordability. Brooks had rewritten his contract last year in order to stay, but for what? He won\'t offer him self again as a charity case again and will go where the green. green grass is growing. Unfortunately, that is probably not N.O.!

ditto titans, after all those players released they are still 2 million over. bang for the buck, bang for the buck.
bucs should get griese to reup at more favorable terms and cut brad johnson\'s 8million dollar old ass. dwight smith a decent safety possibility from there too. nice to takeaway from division rivals while adding to your own. check- http://www.blackandgold.net/site/mod...hread&tid=8145 bucs, falcons, and panthers are currently 3 of the 4 worst cap teams. eehaa |

On Griese Kelley, his agent just floated a final deal to the bucs today. If they don\'t agree on this one, he will be released.

if ya see sf or arz sign a fa qb i think it translates to a high possibility of smith or rodgers dropping to #16.
that is, the more useable qb\'s that float out on the market, griese, garcia, warnet et al, the more likely that could happen |
