Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

It is unlikely that Mathews will earn a starting job if he makes the roster, but he offers the kind of versatility that coaches like to see from reserve players. It is that kind of versatility that got Zach Strief, Senio Kelemete, and Tim Lelito on the roster, and all of them could be starting in the fall. Mathews could be the next to follow in their footsteps.

I am going out on the limb early this year.

Avery Young maybe the injury role that pays of huge. Landon Turner maybe the hyped signing

But

Ryker Mathews Is the one I am watching out the corner of my eye. He may get a shot at OT but inside is were I think he will make his living. The knock about quickness off the snap "is lacking" is something I question and look at coaching as a possible issue. worth keeping an on.

I really like this pick up. blue collar, lunch, pail toting, pancake making line man, they make me swoon.

Between these three I feel much better about the possible future of the depth at OG.

Can we just trade Peat? We have a ton of guard options now and Peat isn't gonna beat out Strief. I still believe the team didn't really want Peat... They just got stuck.

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

If you haven't heard, our fourth round selection which cost two draft picks to acquire that pick, DL David Onyemata, Manitoba (Canada) was also drafted by the Saskatchewan RoughRiders of the CFL (Canadian Football League) in the fourth round; he was projected the top of his CFL class...

Consider this possibility - suppose he chose to play for Saskatchewan offered him more money than what is allotted for his draft selection in accordance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement Rookie Pool?

Well, went to OverTheCap.com and looked up the slotted contract for pick #120.* The contract has a total value of $2,882,334usd with a signing bonus of $542,344usd and contract values of sequential order of $585,586usd (2016), $675,586usd (2017), $765,586usd (2018), and $855,586usd (2019)...

Judging from what CFL players make these days (Football is not their day jobs - like the good ole days of our grandfathers), and add in the Canadian socialist income tax and healthcare system, I wouldn't consider the CFL draft selection a threat...

There's probably some work visas that are being expedited through Immigration and the US State Department and that's what is holding up the contract...

And there may be some US Labor/Immigration Law, Nigerian Labor/Immigration Law and Canadian Labor/Immigration Law adaptations to the contract that have to be wrangled out; leave it to Sean Payton to turn in a homework assignment to p*ss off the teacher...

* Rookie Draft Pool- Over the Cap (Hover over Pick No.120 (Texans Row, but it'll show Saints) for contract value

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Streif's experience trumps Peat's inexperienced athleticism, so you're right in that regard...

But, eventually Strief's age will cause the ineveitable veteran crash and I'd rather just slide Peat over in an easier transition and plug in a developed guard, perhaps Landon Turner, perhaps a draft pick or FA next season...

It makes no sense to trade Peat now except for an elite defensive front seven prospect or wide receiver and there're none that'd give us the value that we'd send in Peat for the next three years...
