this week's darren howard talk
in last night's chat it was forwarded as perhaps more than speculation that howard could be moved to jacksonville for darius and a second round draft pick. i for one would be plenty happy with that. darius is a legit bigtime hitter. an additional second could facilitate using a second if necessary (with #16) to move up to get derrick johnson if available. i dunno what to think of the idea of them moving up to get alex smith. not so much what i think, but that would seem like an uncharacteristic move for this front office... being that proactive and aggressive. stay tuned, the big name free agent movement has happen early and fast the past few years.

Darius and a 2nd? Is this team savvy enough to pull that off? |

i know danno, sounds optimistic to me. with them apparently not so hot on any veteran lb\'s i am starting hope for anything that resembles a spalsh. that move would lift hopes for many here imo. <fingers crossed>

As a pass rusher, Howard has more value than a SS, which the NFL tends to see as a dime a dozen. They feel you can plug a former CB in at S, and not lose a beat. It has happened on plenty of occasions. That is the only reason I can see that the deal woudl come off that way. The Jags need a De as Douglas was a bust when they had him and Greg Favors their OLB was starting at DE for them, and very under-sized. They would have one of the better front lines in the league if they got Howard, so they could go younger at safety. It would definitely be a winning situation for us though.

I\'d like to see Howard stick around here, but if they could get Darrius and a 2nd I would tell them to jump on it.

this week's darren howard talk
That chat last night was neato. You all should try to get in on it next Sunday night.
Regarding Howard, I do not want to see our best d-lineman go but when when Jarrod Breaux mentioned the D Darius + 2nd rounder for Howard rumor, I liked it. The only problem I had with the chat was J.B. got my hopes up once again. Yeah, he got me riled talking about how the defense should be and most likely will be much better. Apparently, Haslet likes K. Bell and will probably try to get him. He said the last four games are a good indication of how the Saints have improved and with a stud like Bell (if he stays healthy) this defense could actually be good. Drat. My whole plan as a Saints fan is to keep my expectations low so that if the team meets that expectation I can handle it and if they exeed the expectation I\'ll be laughing. Saintz08, will you post something to bring me back down please? |

Bell has been a health risk the past 2 season. He doesn\'t see enough of the field to want or deserve the kind of money he is looking for.
Trade rumor sounds awesome. 2nd rounder sounds a bit unfavorable to Jacksonville so I doubt it will be that high. 3rd rounder would still be great. Such a deep draft, no need to trade up or trade down. I think stockpiling draft picks would be an awesome idea. |
