this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I heard on 660wfan in new york that the Jets might trade Mo for a first rounder... Would it be worth the number 12 pick? Could we afford him? Would you want him on our team? Thoughts?...

Re: Mohammed Wilkerson
I'd love him on the team, but the price tag is going to be crazy.

Re: Mohammed Wilkerson
The official franchise-tag numbers are in, and the cost to use the tag on Muhammad Wilkerson is ...
A lot. But we knew that already. Specifically, it will cost $15.701 million to use the non-exclusive tag on Wilkerson, as the New York Jets are expected to do before the 4 p.m. Tuesday deadline. That's close to what was projected, so it's not like the Jets' cap people were blindsided by the number. Cost to franchise tag New York Jets DE Mo Wilkerson is $15.7 million - New York Jets Blog- ESPN |

Re: Mohammed Wilkerson
It takes time to develop talent and our positional coaches on defense suck.
Muhammad Wilkerson is a true superstar. 26 years old. First rounder and then long term deal? YES. |

Re: Mohammed Wilkerson
I have seen more players like him play well on their first contracts then get paid and lay back on easy street for the rest of their career.
Would rather find the guy that has talent and is still hungry to play hard, win and earn a bigger pay day. Think Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins type of players. |

Re: Mohammed Wilkerson
I'd give a 1st round pick if we already agree on the contract before the trade.
