I might have missed something in the last few weeks but, I assumed if we were going to make a change it would have been during the big hiring and firing of coaches after Black Monday.

I found this article where Coach was quoted:
Sean Payton says there is a ‘likelihood’ Dennis Allen will return to Saints as defensive coordinator

The "likelihood" part is what I'm wondering about. Could we not find anyone? or is he OK with him?

I actually think Gregg was a pretty good DC considering the talent level we gave him every year.

I mean damn, in 2010 we had people like Leigh Torrence, Scott Shanle, Alex Brown, Patrick Robinson all starting for us and we still managed to produce a top 10 defense.

GW's blitz heavy scheme was purely drawn up that way because we didn't give him any top tier talent to work with, we had to send 6 or more guys every time because the front 4 was nowhere near talented enough to do it themselves.

Williams was the man. look at what he has done and maintained with the rams.

The guy was just starting to draft youth for the defense just as he the exited. What he did with what he was given and the pieces he was allowed to obtain was amazing in my book.

I would have and still would back the rehiring of Williams

I want to see what Allen does. He is not afraid of high picks on small school players that is for sure. A major reaches early on do not appear to be his style

So this should be an interesting draft

Greg Williams did an outstanding job with the lack of talent he had.
2009 best in TOs and wins the SB.
2010 4th ranked total D.
2011 first half of the year ranked top 10, injuries hindered the year.

GW never had amazing players. Vilma was the best player he had. All GW needed was a bunch of role players and he turned them into animals.

I wouldn't mind seeing him back here but what crazy media crap will hit the fan even though he is back coaching under the radar... if he came here - I couldn't image but I'd take him back.
