That pretty much proves he's better when he has a QB who can get him the ball...

I'm not really worried that Fleener had a couple of more TD's. People kept saying Josh Hill was going to be great because he scored a few td's in limited playing time. Ben Watson was more reliable this year than Fleener was for the Colts. He has kind of had the dropsies at times. He did improve last year for them, and I'm hopeful he continues an upward trend.

I did say that Ben was better THIS YEAR, for us. I recognize it was his best year, and that he is getting old. My point was that it's not really an upgrade right now, but it has more long term value, at least potentially. You never know what will happen when a player changes systems.

Maybe a little too much money, but at least we got younger. Will miss Watson's leadership big-time though.

Yikes, another bad grade:

Coby Fleener (Saints): D+

Last year, the Saints knew that they had to rebuild their offensive line and defense, even if it meant sacrificing their pass-catching tight end, so they sent Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks and acquired Max Unger and draft picks. A year later, with their offensive line struggling and their defense still a mess, it seems like they just gave up and went after a less impressive receiving tight end. Fleener isn't close to Graham's equal as a field-stretching receiver, and the Saints did just fine without that sort of weapon in their offense last year, turning Ben Watson into a viable tight end. After losing Watson to the Ravens, the Saints took what precious little cap space they had and decided to use it on Fleener's five-year, $36-million deal. It's reminiscent of their bizarre decision to invest heavily in running backs (of all things) last year, and speaks to just how flawed the organizational process has gotten in New Orleans.

50 catches with Indy means drew will get him 75-80 and 900 yards

We have more cap space then these folks realize.

Just because you have cap space doesn't mean you should go blow it on mid-tier talent that could have been acquired for 3mil Less per year...

Couldn't have said it better myself. This decision is mind boggling. I have officially lost faith in Loomis with these continual awful FA decisions and contracts.
