![]() The NFL Competition Committee voted on Wednesday to pass a rule proposed by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that would automatically eject a player after two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
Saints head coach Sean Payton isn’t sure it was the right move. “I don’t like the idea of two and you’re out, because I just think it gives the impression, it’s late in the third quarter, fourth quarter, we’re up 20, and I can use one,” Payton said. ![]() Drafted in part after the wild feud between Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Panthers cornerback Josh Norman, the rule would have applied only once this season: when Titans pass rusher Brian Orakpo melted down after a roughing-the-passer call against a teammate during Tennessee’s win over the Saints. Payton isn’t sure this something the NFL should try to legislate at all. read more |

Re: Sean Payton doesn’t like implications of NFL’s new ejection rule
stupid rule
Just admit that the game has gotten too fast for the 55+year old officials and use replay on everything The Beckham situation was ridiculous. Don't use the lack of judgment shown in that game as the acid test for this rule |

How many players actually received two unsportsmans in a game the past couple of years?

Another form of legislating morality.
Which is hilarious because Der Kommisar is void of moral ethics. |

Re: Sean Payton doesn’t like implications of NFL’s new ejection rule
Agreed. Those refs clearly had no control in that game. They let the Beckham/Norman battle get ridiculously out of hand. Our officials are getting worse & worse (control/play calling) every year.

Hmmmm! I don't like the implications of these implications!! Here's hoping the Saints draft many GA Tech players so the front office can be "ALL ABUZZ!"
