Lost/cut: S Rafael Bush, TE Benjamin Watson, G Jahri Evans, LB David Hawthorne, LB Ramon Humber, WR Seantavius Jones, WR Marques Colston, CB Brandon Browner, RB Khiry Robinson

If you look at what we lost and gained I think that the front office did very good maybe a B- and here's why:

Linebackers - we lost Humber and Hawthorne but gained Lauranitis, Stupar and Robertson. Good trade off in my opinion.

TE - we lost Watson but gained Fleenor and re-signed Hoomanawanui and retained Hill. GREAT in my opinion.

RB - we lost Robinson but re-signed Cadet and are talking to Hightower about re-signing and that will be a GREAT win in my opinion. We will sign Hightower.

WR - we lost Colston and Jones who but Cooks, Snead and Coleman are ready to take over. We could use someone like Boldin that's not afraid to go over the middle. Good move in my opinion. We will get another receiver like Colston before the season starts. Look for it in the later rounds of the draft. Coach is good at picking gems in the late rounds.

CB - we lost Browner. What loss? He was Browner than burnt toast! We re-signed Wilson and will get 1 or 2 more in the draft. Good in my opinion.

S - we lost Bush but re-signed Sanford and signed Eric Dixon. Good trade in my opinion. We will get one more before the season starts. Nelson or Whitener since his release from Cleveland would both be great additions.

Kicker - we signed Scobee and he will replace Forbath for sure. Great move in my opinion.

Guard - we lost Evans but re-signed Clemente and will move Peat to LG and this position will be addressed in the draft probably 3rd round. Below Average in my opinion.

FB - retaining Austin is a win.

QB - we re-signed McCown and will eventually restructure Drew to free up a lot more cap space. Good in my opinion.

Defensive Line - we signed Fairley which is a fairly decent move but still need to address the Defensive Line and we will with Jarran Reed or A'Shaun in the first and a hulk of a DT or stand up DE in the 2nd. We will get either Shaq Lawson from Clemson or Calhoun from Michigan State. If Billings from Baylor falls to us in the 2nd, Correa DE/OLB Boise State or Howard CB Baylor we will grab one. Good in my opinion.

and guys and gals we still have 3.3 million in cap space with Drew's restructure left. GREAT IN MY OPINION.

B- is my final offer!
Thank you for making me feel better. Hopefully we will be able to fill the rest of the holes with the draft.

Exactly how is Scobee a great signing and he should beat out Forbath? he's old and there's a reason Jacksonville moved on.

Forbath only made 69.2% of his field goals last year, it shouldn't be too hard for Scobee to compete

Scobee hit 86.7% on field goals and Forbath hit 69.2. About the only way that isn't a ton better is if you use the new common core math! lol It's amazing after all I posted you picked out the kickers? lol

How many FGs did Scobee miss last year? You really believe Scobee is gonna be Hartley 2.0? I don't see it. Either way, Scobee is not going to be a game saver for us. I just don't see it. Forbath can at least make the 50 yard FGs. Scobee may have passed that point now.

This is the one signing I hated, as I wanted a young kicker late in the draft like the next Tucker or Succop.

Signed: TE Coby Fleener, LB Nathan Stupar, LB James Laurinaitis, LB Craig Robertson, DT Nick Fairley, K Josh Scobee, Nick Fairley

If you look at what we lost and gained I think that the front office did very good maybe a B- and here's why:

Linebackers - we lost Humber and Hawthorne but gained Lauranitis, Stupar and Robertson. Good trade off in my opinion.
Laurinitis>Anthony(at MLB'er) Stupar=Humber
Stupar and Robertson improves our depth tremendously. imho

TE - we lost Watson but gained Fleenor and re-signed Hoomanawanui and retained Hill. GREAT in my opinion.
Fleener has a ton of upside with Drew throwing to him. Hill is average at best but I like Houman.

RB - we lost Robinson but re-signed Cadet and are talking to Hightower about re-signing and that will be a GREAT win in my opinion. We will sign Hightower.
I will miss Robinson and I'm sick that Cadet is wasting another roster spot......he won't continue to contribute like he did when he rejoined the team late last year. I'm hoping we re-sign Hightower. Fingers crossed.

Right now we only have Fleener to work the middle. We need another big body to take Colston's snaps across the middle. We also need a burner to complete the Hendereson/Meachem roole.

CB - we lost Browner. What loss? He was Browner than burnt toast! We re-signed Wilson and will get 1 or 2 more in the draft. Good in my opinion.
If last years rookies can contribute and Lewis is healthy we will be alright at corner. But if we have one corner go down we are in trouble with no depth on the roster.

We have Kelemete or Lelito to fill the RG spot with decent depth. I don't want to have Peat playing LG. That means we dropped the ball and he has to play there. We need 3rd or fourth round draft pick at LG to step up and start right away. We may spend another draft pick here as well.
FB - retaining Austin is a win.
I really think that Houman gets of his snaps

Adding Fairley is a B+ if only for value.

Well thought out my friend!

How can the guy say the acquisitions grades poorly without even seeing them suit up as a Saint yet?

Agreed with CheramieIII

If we signed Anquan Boldin and had a solid draft, picking up a RG, WR and then draft heavy defense I'd be very happy.

I'd give it a C-minus at this point in time. That's based mainly on what they failed to do instead of what they actually did. Getting Fleener (overpay), Fairley (1-year stop gap), and Lauranaitis could end up as good moves. But not addressing this team's most serious holes (DE, DT, Safety, OG) is a head scratcher. Loomis has crippled this franchise with a series of terrible FA signings, unwise extensions, and poor results in the draft. Leading the league in dead money is not a good thing. Let's hope we do better in the 2016 draft.

We did address DT and why do you think we have a serious hole at safety?

And as Guido stated...

Moving Kikaha to DE, where he played and excelled at in college, and adding Fairley to the inside will prove to be a solid improvement. Lauriniatis gives the Saints a true field general in the middle and allows Anthony to concentrate solely on doing his job.

Fairley was the top rated DT in free agency. That isn't a splash? Lauriniatis was the top rated MLB and the second rated ILB in the FA market. Not a splash? Fleener was the second rated TE in the FA market behind Antonio Gates and everyone knew Gates was re-upping with SD. Not a splash? Bigger splashes did not exist at the positions needed by the Saints.

I'm not sold on Fairley... coming off back-to-back sub-par years I'm not getting too excited yet. Maybe he'll prove me wrong and come out hungry because he's on a one-year deal, but it looks like a pretty underwhelming move IMO and doesn't upgrade the unit.

Loomis & co. gave Byrd a monster contract that he's not even come close to living up to (not only has he been hurt, for a guy billed as a ballhawk, he's got one INT to his name in black and gold). Our cap numbers are so out of whack again, that we let Bush leave town, and we didn't have enough to sign anybody else. So yeah, I'm worried that we've got Byrd who is injury prone and virtually no depth.

Perhaps I am, but the buck stops with the GM, he's ultimately responsible for how the roster looks. And if his main job is to make the money work, he gets an F- from me the last few seasons for how poorly he's done that job. Again, having the most dead money in the league is squarely on Loomis.

Again, I hope they prove me wrong, but I just don't see a lot of upgrades to our roster from last year.
