I am not at all against looking down the road with a pick. It is very hard to find all-pro caliber QB's, so rather than waiting for Brees to retire, not knowing how effective he'll be in a couple of years, if you have a QB available who you think is THE guy, I think you should strongly consider taking him.
That said, I'm not a Goff fan. I can see the ability he has, but I also have noticed that he's been very up and down. He's not what I would call a surgeon of the passing game. Yes, he could get better, but when you're drafting who you believe to be the future of your franchise, you'd like to see that player be a bit further along than Goff is.
I fully expect to go defense in the first round, but if by some crazy chance they go with a QB, I'd rather Paxton Lynch.
