Crazy, Off The Charts Draft Scenarios
Okay, thought we could have some fun today and post really crazy moves the Saints could pull in the draft that would totally blow everyone out of the water...
I'll start... Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints announce trade... Tennessee Titans send the No. 1 overall pick in the draft and a third round pick (No. 64 pick) to the New Orleans Saints... New Orleans Saints send their first round pick (no. 12 overall) and LT Terron Armstead to the Tennessee Titans... How this helps both teams... For Tennessee that get a level of certainty with an established Left Tackle to protect their franchise quarterback; and, at pick No. 12, they still get an impact draft pick to help their team... For New Orleans, the next gen quarterback comes on board and gets a year to learn under Payton/Brees; they relieve themselves of the challenge of re-signing Armstead, open the LT position for Andrus Peat, his natural position, with cap friendly numbers for the next four years; with the early third round pick, it gives the Saints more options to find help on the right side of the offensive line... Why it won't happen... While Tennessee would be getting some real value in Armstead, they're going to want more and wouldn't be willing to give up that third round pick even though the teams would essentially be swapping two players for two players... New Orleans brain-trust may still be thinking they can win one more championship and believe Brees can finish a regular season and post season with his aging body and may not be ready to abandon that thread; also, Andrus Peat has struggled and it may not all be because he's out of his comfort zone at Left Tackle... |
Re: Crazy, Off The Charts Draft Scenarios
That is indeed crazy. I think if the Saints move up it would be for the chance to draft Myles Jack. And that shouldn't take a move up to #1. This QB class is so-so. Wentz and Goff would be #3-4 in last year's QB class. That isn't worth a move up to get.
My money on on them moving back and still getting good value on D if they don't just stay put. |

Re: Crazy, Off The Charts Draft Scenarios
Only one player in my book worth trading up for IMO. Jalen Ramsey
Saints Trade 12, 47 and 1st in 2017 and to San Diego for #3 trade back with Baltimore for 6, 36, 104. Raven Jalen Ramsey Trade back with the Rams for 15 45 and there 2017 1st round pick Rams Jared Goff. Trade 15 to Minnesota for 23 conditional 2nd in 2017 Eli Apple 23 Josh Doctson WR TCU 36 Vetron Butler DT LA Tech 45 Darian Thompson FS/SS Boise St 78 Javon Hargrave, DT South Carolina State 104 Sean Davis SS/FS/CB Maryland 112 Matt Judon, DE, Grand Valley State 152 Willie Beavers OT/OG Eastern Michigan 237 Caleb Benenoch OT/OG UCLA 2017 1st round pick (Rams) 2nd (Vikings) We trade up with no intentions of staying put. Only to trade down |
Re: Crazy, Off The Charts Draft Scenarios
Now that's some kind of crazy Hagan. :p
Hows about the Saints just picking up a 3rd or 4th by trading back a few slots. Then taking Rankins or Billings or Reed in the 1st. Maybe A'Shawn since he seems to be slipping if those three are gone. |
