Re: The QB after Brees.
McCown is a fine back-up to Drew while we figure out if Grayson is the heir apparent. We don't need to spend a draft pick on Drew's replacement for a couple of more years. We all hope Grayson can step into the clip board holder this year.
We'll know more after Drew get's his extension and then we'll have a time frame for when we need to find his replacement. |

You believe Drew has five years left? Based on what? What he's doing now? Outside saints world people are already saying Brees is almost done. This is what happens when you lose games. Everyone gets torn apart.

Re: The QB after Brees.
Hate to poo poo on the parade but with exception of San Fran in the 90's, Green Bay with Rogers after Favre, and to a lesser extent the Colts recently, it's rare for an NFL franchise to follow-up an NFL legend QB like Brees with another legend.
We could spend years sifting through draft picks and free-agents only to have wasted money looking for the next Brees. I would rather the team draft huge young players on both sides of the ball and hope the next Brees comes in free agency or through the draft at any skilled position. When we find our next offensive attack, build a team around that player - running-back, wide receiver, QB, etc. Keep building the core players and both lines and skills players so when the next QB arrives from a draft or 2nd or 3rd string, or free agency naturally, the foundation will already be in place. |

Re: The QB after Brees.
Yes, I believe Brees can have five years left. No QB in the league has ever worked harder at keeping in shape than Brees. His off-season program which combines physical activities and a very special diet is unprecedented. An athlete that takes good care of themselves can expect a much longer period of production than ever before. The popular perception of the "lifetime" of an NFL QB is totally based upon the past and is no longer relevant today. Yes, you are correct in what the "outside" world is saying, and has been saying, about Brees. They are wrong.

Re: The QB after Brees.
Yep, the trick is getting the right monsters in front of him, some guys with real sticky hands and some running backs who don't confuse blitzes with blintzes. That'll lengthen his time in the league by quite a bit.
