Re: Underwhelmed
Kinda been what I've been thinking. Maybe they know what they are doing instead of throwing darts with a blindfold as a small minority around here think.

Re: Underwhelmed
Nobody is saying they're throwing darts at a board. But trading up for extremely unproven players seems like a lot of wishful thinking. The amount of busts every year should tell you that this isn't the science you seem to think it is.

Re: Underwhelmed
Exactly how many busts did they have last year after dumping half of their scouting department? If I am not mistaken every pick is still on roster.

Re: Underwhelmed
I said the amount of busts every year. That's referring to all teams. Meaning that just because a team selects a player, doesn't make it the right choice. As for last year's draft? Two didn't play, so who knows with them, and one (Davidson) barely played. And Peat was a pick I couldn't stand, and he did not look good. It's kind of dumb to use last year's draft as an example after one year. I'm hopeful for a lot of those players, but we haven't seen much of them yet.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

He conveniently alters it to last year to somehow remove the argument that (and we don't know about last year yet) 3 of the last 4 drafts have not been very good at all. ![]()
I am not saying this draft won't produce four really good players, but i can say that I am not sold on Rankins and thought the move back to the 4rth for the Nigerian Canuck doesn't seem to be a good one. Hope they are all good, hope I eat my words, but you can voice your displeasure, that is what the site is for |
Your team stinks

Re: Underwhelmed
To you and I he may appear to be unproven. We have no where near the information on him as they do. Trading up to get him without a very firm belief in his ability would be stupid. These franchises spend dozens of hours on players they are planning on targeting where the rest of us cannot find more than 20 minutes worth of information on the web.

Until you play somebody, you are unproven.![]()
Myles Jack and Jaylon Jones were selected in the second round, despite the fact that they may never fully recover. Does that sound like teams doing homework, or hoping for the best? What's my point? You are naive if you think teams don't operate on gut feelings as much as film, when they see an athletic player. |

My sticking point in this particular case, is it didn't seem like the appropriate time to take a shot. But they did, so it's in the books now. Time to start looking forward. |
