I'll never get over that one and only preseason loss in 1967! It was all downhill after that.

So many horrific losses...to many to keep track of. Best to just let them fade away like the quality of those VHS tapes.

I was there... had a 3 hour drive home. it was like a funeral. Oh,and the game went until 1am, overtime, because of presidential debate.

Re: Old Schoolers. Im Still Mad about this Game.
Im gonna do this sometimes, guys... bring up some old blasts from the past, because I think our history is part of what makes us who we are... The fact the we kept loving a team that not only wasnt good, but found creative, and even horrible ways to lose. And we'd march right back up into our seats, and we raised holy hell. The best fans in Sports. period.
--this is what made me a Saints fan. And when we win now, I think of you guys who sat in Tulane Stadium, who believed Archie was taking us There, Who sat thru the Bag years. This win's for You. |

The art of looking for anything and I mean anything to hang your hat on as a step in the right direction year after year after year was a saints fan true skill back then. Old time saints fans can find a silver liner somewhere in a season loaded with turds. But do not try to wrap those turds and sell them to use either. They are still a turd no matter how pretty the wrapping is. I remember years when the national media was actually amazed at how educated saints fans were to the finer points of the game. Heck ESPN did a special on the knowledge saints fans had in regards to special teams and how best to use it. Even our women knew more than than the reporter. Chris Berman and the crew at the desk were amazed and educated by saints fans. Never sell our saints woman short. It was all we had for 3 or 4 years. We all became very well versed in all phases of the game at the pro level by the time Payton came to town, So do not try to to pull the wool over our eyes and then force kool aid down us. we know better “Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.” “Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it” “Those unable to catalog the past are doomed to repeat it.” “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." “He who doesn't understand history is doomed to repeat it.” “Those who don't learn, or can't remember it, are doomed to repeat it.” say it which ever way you want but in the end it always end up “We're doomed to repeat the past no matter what. That's what it is to be alive. It's pretty dense kids who haven't figured that out by the time they're ten.... Most kids can't afford to go to Harvard and be misinformed.” Kurt Vonnegut |
"We may have lost the game, but you'll be hurting tomorrow." Doug Atkins
