What's The Rush?
I looked over the Scouts.com database at Yahoo. Among the top 21 UFA's 13 have been signed. The remaining 8 consists of 5 that are not really target needs (CB, WR, DE). There are 3 LB's left- Trotter, Hartwell, and Bell. We have no rumor of any interest in them and no free agent visits are scheduled. But there may be interest in Ronald McKinnon which I can find no one else interested in. So no rush. If he doesn't work out I see linebackers Zeke Moreno, Vinny Ciurciu, Paris Lenon, Artie Ulmer, and Saleem Rasheed on the list. Any of those would work well with TE of interest from Seattle, Itula Mili. I reviewed last year's signings and we might not see that good again but maybe close:
March 4- Stecker, 4yr/$4mil March 7- Young, 4yr/$10mil March 16- Sam Gash 1yr/$780K March 26- Nesbit April 8- Craft in trade for 5th Rd pick Ironic to me is that still on the need list is a DT, DB, etc. and the only verified free agent to visit will be another guard. Probably better not to sign any high profile players anyway. They may not work out. Remember no plan is better than a bad plan. Don't worry be happy. \'\'There are 3 LB\'s left- Trotter, Hartwell, and Bell. We have no rumor of any interest in them and no free agent visits are scheduled.\'\' That right there is an answer to your question...If not one of them, who will we possibly get to help at LB? While at the same time...helping free up at least one position we will have to address in the Draft... We aren\'t really in a position this year to fill all of our needs in the Draft alone, and waiting for scraps, or whatever the F.O. is doing doesn\'t give anyone any kind of hope for fixing this hideous excuse for a Defense. Guess we\'ll have to (as Fielkow said) \'\'Take a leap of faith\'\'..and hope a Magical Space Fairy drops some talented players into the team...cuz the F.O isn\'t going to do it... And..I think the quote goes...\'\' A bad plan is better than no plan at all\'\'..not reverse... [Edited on 4/3/2005 by shadowdrinker] [Edited on 4/3/2005 by shadowdrinker] |

We should really go after one of those three LB\'s so that could free up our pick in the draft to concentrate on the secondary. This years DB\'s and SS\'s in the draft are stronger than the last few years.
Lets be honest out o\'s not the greatest, but the D is where we should be makeing the big push this off season. |
