Also, let's sign Womack, McKenzie, or Miller. Do it. It seems there are some reports that Kenoy Kennedy has not signed with the Lions! Get 'im! Do it. Finally, get on the Howard trade. I'd like to see some action (if only to please my buddies, like Whodi). Action. Do it. Come on! Yeah! |

You know, I gotta tell you. I think that the Saints can find a safety as an upgrade without having to part with a franchise player to get him. IMHO, a franchise DE is worth a hell of a lot more than a franchise safety. I wouldn\'t mind seeing nothing at all happen with Howard. Let him lead the team in sacks again next season. Fine by me. Draft a safety or pick someone up in FA that doesn\'t command top 5 money and two number ones as equivalent compensation.

I agree Who. I like LK\'s plan from last week. Let\'s trade Howard for a stud LB. That shouldn\'t be that difficult. How about we trade with the Giants to get Peirce, that would be cute. He\'d have to come then...

Donavan Darius is a top-5 safety in the NFL. Darren Howard is not a top-5 defensive end.
Furthermore, we have 3 defensive ends and a HUGE need at safety. We make that deal and our defense is instantly better. Cut it , dice it, slice it any way you want. But it would be a good deal for us. |

Well I am on the bandwagon to get Howard a long term deal and not break the bank. Keeping him is a good thing. Yeah Yeah we have Smith... but I like lining up Smith in different spots and having him blitz all the time. I don\'t think it will do any good to the D to part ways with Howard.

I just don\'t see how we can afford to keep Howard now that he will get fanchise money. We could get two stud players for his price (if there are any left when we get around to it), or we can keep a guy where we have two other \"stars\".
Billy, I agree that Darius would help us right away, but why not trade Howard for a Linebacker? That would help us right away and be for a unit that we both agree is more important than Safety? Howard may not be a top five DE, but he is a good pass rusher and he can play the run. There are maybe three teams that he wouldn\'t be an upgrade on. Darius\' cover skills are a bit lower than I\'d like, but I\'d consider him an excellent acquisition. I\'d just like to be greedy about Howard. He\'s our best asset in FA right now. I don\'t see getting Darius as being greedy, unless we can get a 3rd rounder (or a future 2nd) too. Not only that, I\'ve heard that Kenoy Kennedy is still a FA. We could get him and still have Howard to trade for a LB. [Edited on 4/3/2005 by JKool] |
