Re: Thursday OTA's
Sounds like someone really didn't do any homework on Byrd before we threw the bank at him.
Just because it worked out with Brees does not mean Byrd will be the same. He will laugh it up as he takes every dime we guaranteed him and won't make any impact towards our team. |

Re: Thursday OTA's
Notes and observations from Thursday's organized team activity - Black and Gold
A few highlights: Safety look: With Jairus Byrd sideline, Erik Harris and Vonn Bell played the deep safety role in nickel packages with Kenny Vaccaro roaming the box. Vaccaro was all over the field. He often blitzed, covered slot receivers and played deep as the strong safety. Vaccaro had a few nice blitzes in nickel looks with Stephone Anthony and Dannell Ellerbe handling the linebacker duties. Defensive end shuffle: Hau’oli Kikaha and Davis Tull received their work with the defensive ends during individual drills. Kikaha played Jack during team drills. Obum Gwacham worked some as the strongside defensive end. Kikaha recorded sacks on back-to-back plays at one point working against a second-team offensive lineman. |
"When you get into one of these groups, there's only a couple of ways you can get out. One, is death; the other, is mental institutions."

Re: Thursday OTA's
It's nice to see that laurinitus got everyone lined up quickly and correctly, that's been a lot of the problem recently.

Re: Thursday OTA's
Yeah that is good to hear. Ryan was such a genius how out thought everyone and people couldn't get lined up or know when they were supposed ot be on the field.

Re: Thursday OTA's
I spent many a Saints game the past 2 years saying "Here come's a blown coverage and a touchdown" because the entire defense looked confused. No one knew where to line up. I think Laurinitus will really help out in this aspect. They are not the fastest defense in the NFL so they need to be the smartest.
