Less than three months after that failure in Denver, the New Orleans Saints are heading into a similar long-term quandary, staring at a significant commitment to an aging, elite quarterback, while also measuring how to survive his inevitable departure. The Saints are weighing two sizeable issues regarding their quarterback spot, two league sources told Yahoo Sports: the amount of guaranteed money that will be necessary to get a contract extension done with Drew Brees, and finding and properly grooming the player who will eventually replace him.

Re: Here's what a Drew Brees extension can look like and what concerns the Saints
why am i doubting this? I feel like he will have a new deal prior to season start. I don't really think he is going to play the final year without an extension, but maybe I am wrong

I really wouldn't be surprised if he already has his mind made up he won't be back next year. I think he may want to try something else for his last couple of years. Wouldn't surprise me if they have a gentlemans agreement to keep it quiet so it doesn't hang over the season as a distraction or if Condon has made his price so high the Saints just can't possibly afford it.
It will be a gamble for Drew either way. If he gets injured this season his price will go way down. |

Also, Manning was hurt then benched. Not exactly the same as leading the league in passing. Brees had more TD's in weeks 8-9 than Manning had for the whole season |

Why does it seem like there are no similar concerns regarding that aging QB in New England?

To even suggest what you are suggesting is void of all logic and simply ludicrous.
All of the parties involved know that it is best for Brees to finish his career with New Orleans. There is no way Payton signs his extension without knowing that Brees will remain his QB for the foreseeable future. |

He is as straight forward and honest as a person can be based upon what I have seen and read and based upon what others that know him well have said about him.
