Sure Davey\'s got some rings (I\'m unsure if he was around for all three), but he did nothing to earn them. Heck, Earthwind Moreland has got a couple of rings, too. Should we sign him?

No one knows how O\'Sullivan will do in his NFL career. It\'s quite possible he might be the next Brett Favre. However, that\'s not very likely.

Whatever O\'Sullivan is gonna do, he\'s gonna have to do it just like every other bench riding QB. He\'s going to have to wait for his time to come and make the most of his opportunity when it arrives.

Either he\'s gonna have to go to a team that is DESPERATE for a QB, like Jake going to Carolina when all they had was Rodney Peete, or he\'ll get put in when it\'s an emergency. Like when Brooks went in for an injured Jeff Blake.

No team that has an adequete starting QB is gonna think of putting O\'Sullivan on the field when they are trying to win a game. Not unless the starter is stinkin\' it up so bad that they are forced to.

Chances are O\'Sullivan will be a career back-up or he\'ll be out of the league soon. He\'ll be lucky if he is EVER a starting QB.

J.T. O'Sullivan..

papz, I\'m sorry you felt like I was putting words in your mouth; I wasn\'t, that is why I said \"it is like some people\". That doesn\'t refer to you. I understand how you may have got that impression, but I wasn\'t trying to give that impression. Also, I wasn\'t trying to prove a point. I\'m trying to figure out what the deal is with everyone being excited about JT.

LB, thanks for the thoughts. I saw the preseason games, and for a few minutes here and there I think I saw what you are talking about too. On the other hand, I also saw a guy with NO NFL experience making as many bad plays as good ones.

I do agree with you ont this though: \"what I am saying is that we will never know.\" I think that is absolutely to the point and correct. That is why I suggest there is NO reason to be excited about him at all. We have another guy, his name is Kingsbury to get excited about; I suggest that people get excited about him and get over JT.

As far as our 6th round pick - we got Bockwoldt, whom everybody loves for a 7th. Why would we give up that chance on a guy who is CERTAINLY a backup. That should appeal to all you risk-lovers; we take a risk with our 6th rounder, rather than getting back a guy we know won\'t be starting.

We have at least one (probably 3) 3rd string QB on the roster already - Bouman, Kingsbury and Finlin. Do we need another? Talk about addressing an area of need!

Yea I wasn\'t sugguesting we bring him in and start him by any means, just the fact that Bouman has one year left on his contract and Sullivan has some talent to backup Brooks. A plus is that he is smart and familiar with the system. Though I wouldn\'t mind us drafting a Charlie Frye, Orton, Walter in the ladder rounds of the draft either.

I wasn\'t overly thrilled with Kingsbury in college, I loved his successor more than I liked him. I guess with more exposure, I\'ll jump on the Kingsbury bandwagon too. Just too bad I\'m not off the O\'Sullivan wagon yet.

One more thing, don\'t want to burst your bubble but Colby was a 7th round pick. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/player...e?statsId=6999

I thought that is what I said? I was suggesting that a 6th is better than the pick we used for Bockwoldt - apologies for not writing more clearly on that one.

Either way, I see your argument regarding JT. At least he knows the system, we know what he\'s got as a back up, he does appear to have some heart. I agree with all that. I guess, I just feel like a 6th is actually too high for him. We have a bunch of other guys who can play backup QB here in NO.

Perhaps someone can post something about Kingsbury or Finlen? Maybe that would help, papz? I\'m not gonna lie, I\'m too tired to look it up right now... maybe later today.

I take it you haven\'t seen Kingsbury yet???
I have too much out in the bowels of West Texas. He lacks an arm. His stats were a result of the system. the guy that came after him did better than he ever did. All Kliff has is personality, he\'ll never be a starter.

LMAO who said hes a starter... we are talking a 3rd string qb... WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A 3RD STRING QB PEOPLE. JT isn\'t coming in here to start if they go for that. JT is a RFA and doesn\'t mean GB is letting him go. I love it when people read to much into things.

Great Papz see what you started, lol.

Here is a snipet on Finlen from Asia.cnet.com:

Chris Finlen is getting a second shot with the New Orleans Saints. The former Rockton Hononegah and Northern Illinois University quarterback signed a two-year non-guaranteed contract with the Saints. Finlen originally signed with New Orleans in 2003 and was allocated to the Barcelona Dragons of NFL Europe, where he completed 25 of 45 passes for 197 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Finlen later was released by the Saints after injuring his shoulder in September 2003. Going into training camp in 2003, Finlen was ranked fifth on the depth chart.
Here\'s one on Kingsbury:

Sounds like they agree with CBB, above. Maybe he\'d be an ok game manager, but we don\'t really have the defense for that.

Finlen, Finlen, Finlen... ok, maybe we could use another 3rd stringer at QB, but only after we get an OT, LB, and Safety... AT LEAST.

Euphoria... that\'s because no one really reads entire post.

If everyone would just go back to the orginal post and read the part where \"Teams looking for a solid young backup...\" Ah Ha! This thread was people for people who liked what they saw in O\'Sullivan when he was here and overseas. I like him so why not? 6th rounder? Geez... I think it\'s worth it but that\'s just me. Like everyone else said... who says GB won\'t match an offer? They did want him in the first place... nothing to lose in my opinion.

As for Kingsbury... I don\'t believe he\'s even had a chance to play NFL Europe or a preseason game, which makes O\'Sullivan a better choice. Although I\'m not against giving Kingsbury a chance either... I\'m all for developing young players in case anyone hasn\'t noticed.
