this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; It looks as if free-agent offensive tackle Fred Miller will not return to the Rams, where he played from 1996-99. Miller, a cap casualty in Tennessee, is expected to decide between Chicago and New Orleans, perhaps as early as Sunday. ...

Good grief, doesn\'t anybody remember how awful the Rams line was this past year??? Is Miller really any better than Riley or Gandy???
I sure hope he\'s cheaper... |

Oh yeah, he was at Tennessee wasn\'t he?
Well, that\'s a bit more encouraging. Except that the Titans were plagued by injury at the skill positions all season. Nah, I\'ve not really kept tabs on Miller\'s career. He\'s not a real interesting player, in the traditional sense. Seriously, that\'s why I asked if he was really any better than Riley or Gandy. I dunno if he is or not. He ain\'t no linebacker, that\'s for sure... |

Fred Miller (OT) 3/6/2005
Miller could be signed by Chicago as early as Sunday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Miller was reportedly deciding between Chicago and New Orleans as late as Saturday but the Saints\' signing of Jermane Mayberry on Saturday likely dropped them out of the running. The Rams are also interested but don\'t feel that they\'ll be able to meet his contract demands. www.rotowire.com |

Something we already figured Gumbo... you are still in denial. I guess no one remembers who was the Rams starting RT when they were dominant, it was Fred Miller. After that year they made the superbowl, I believe he signed a MONSTER contract with the Titans and been there ever since. He would have made more sense for our team but Mayberry probably is cheaper.
Four guards will be starting on this line next season, but we will be fine because at least Mayberry has the size for tackle. Four games experience there does kind of worry me but anyone is better than Victor Riley. |
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.
All little common sense goes a long way. |

Do you have some inside info or are you just speculating that we have no interest in Fred Miller? Do tell... :P [Edited on 6/3/2005 by GumboBC] |

Obviously from all the post in this forum, radio, and TV, we have interest in the guy. If we didn\'t we wouldn\'t have brought him in. Hey maybe I\'m just in denial on how good Jacox and Holland are. After reading your previous post, and how we are with free agents, he probably is already a Bear.

We had problems on the outside of our offensive line. I\'m talking about LT and RT. But, the interior of our line was nothing to brag about. Very little running room to the inside. Deuce was regularly tackled in the back field. Most of that was due to defenders running straght through the middle of our offensive line. Serious question here, papz ... On a scale from 1 to 10, how did our offensive guards perform this past year? |
