this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I like what I'm reading about Matthews. More than I like what I'm reading about Lelito or Calamity. LG is the position that keeps me awake at night....

We had 3 ... THREE tackles get injured/hurt last season so I'm baffled why anyone would want to get rid of him. Peat hasn't beaten him out at RT & I don't think the coaches are just going to hand out starting positions. When is training camp again (sarcasm) ? |

Re: New Orleans Saints: 5 Training Camp Battles to Watch
I think we're gonna end up cutting a few guys who can easily make some other teams.
The odd man out at DT and DE, like a Richardson or a Davison, Crowded RB field with Marcus Murphy/Cadet/Hightower/Lasco/Spiller Do we keep 3 TE's and no FB or 4 TE's? Will FB Austin Johnson be fighting Hill and Hooma for that last spot? Right now the kicker situation is sad. My guess is our K isn't on the team yet. Will we keep 3 QB's? My guess is that we cut McCown and pick him back up after week 1 when all the roster shuffling settles down. Probably the same with Hightower. |

I have honestly never seen Travis Cadet do anything to stay on this team . . . i'd be surprised if he even has a highlight video . . . I'm sick of this dude taking a roster spot . . . Can anyone please tell me what they like about this guy ? ? ?

-Lewis needs to be healthy. Williams needs to make the team.
-Spiller and Murphy are out unless an injury to Ingram or Hightower happens. -Richardson is the starting DE. The rest are situational at best. I think a guy like Pettway could surprise. -I hope Barth wins and Payton chooses him. -The LG position will be solid. That's all it has to be. |

Re: New Orleans Saints: 5 Training Camp Battles to Watch
He was one of those players that I just could not shake by season end. Then got wrapped up into the pre draft beauty show and kinda put him on the back shelf. Then his pro day results rolled in and back haunting my draft list in late rounds.
Quickness out of his stance is a bit of an issue but there is a solid chance he can be coached out of that issue. Once he is moving he is a solid player all around. Nasty smart but needs to get the lead out of his azz out of the gate. So he is the one player in the draft that always stuck in my head that the saints added. a draft ghost I like Ryker upside more than Litto of whats his name. I hope the saints feel coaching is the answer to solving his quickness. All the OT/OG UDFA are all best suited inside at OG. Two might be good depth if all else fails at OT. Ryker Mathews - Best athlete and polished blocker of the group Avery Young - Not a tackles despite his build needs work Landon Turner - pass protection is a huge bug-a-bho with this big boy |
