Well Snead has to worry about his role
If we get Boldin, he's likely going to the bench or sharing the slot with Thomas. Either way I'm not really liking this news. It's just taking away targets and snaps really with the more inexperienced receivers.

Boldin should be great mentor. Elite hands! Speed was never his game. One tough mot*****!

Some of you have been praying for this. I'm a little surprised by it myself. |

Anquan Boldin turns 36 on WR October 3, 1980 1000+ League Catches
Willie Snead... Mr 3rd and 7. |
Re: Well Snead has to worry about his role
There are plenty of balls to go around in the Saints offense... TONS actually. It shouldn't affect Snead much as he's shown he can play inside and out. Boldin would be a perfect fit in our offense.

Re: Well Snead has to worry about his role
But he hasn't really fallen off that much & the hands are still elite. I still think we are missing a veteran presence at the position & AB could fill that void. 49ers (Kaep and Gabbert) were a hot mess last season yet AB had close to 800 yards receiving. The man is a tough as they come.
Mentor & teach. Isn't that what a lot of posters keep preaching here (veteran leadership)?? Snead & Coleman could clearly benefit long term with Boldin here. |

It's not about talent all the time. I often preach against this philosophy in fantasy. Boldin may make big plays but I don't know how effective he will be in a limited count. Cooks is the only sure thing and he's got tough corners to play. It's not just Snead it's Thomas. What is we have corners locking down Cooks and Boldin and we need Thomas to do something? What if he's rusted? I just looked at how pathetic our receiving catch rate was last year and want that avoided this year. Sorry I still don't have faith in the oline. Streif might be making excuses for his age putting down the fired ol coach. |

This ain't fantasy football. Someone at WR will struggle & you need a capable veteran who you can depend on when it's 3rd and 6 with 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter/game on the line ... especially since the great M Colston is gone. Why do you think the organization is making a serious push to sign Mr. Boldin?? A natural gamer. |
Re: Well Snead has to worry about his role
I don't think anyone is taking snaps away from Snead. It's guys like Coleman (who's hype confuses me) that will likely be most affected.
I pooped all over the idea of signing Greg Jennings a while back (can't remember if it was last year or the year before), when people were talking about wanting to bring him in as a veteran presence. I didn't believe he had any game left, and he has kind of proven that indeed he doesn't have much left. Boldin has remained productive throughout his career, with some unspectacular QB's much of the time. This is one older player who can help. |
