Improved D says Bobby and Deuce

Good quick read...think Bobby said last year we'd be hard pressed to win 6 games, and he sunshines a lot. Still have to wait until we play a game that means something, but sounds at least somewhat better than last two seasons.

“I thought the defense had a big edge today. The offense has the skins on the wall. But so far this camp I’ve seen an improved defense.” Bobby agreed. He also said that CB Delvin Breaux had an outstanding day at practice.

I hate to sound cliche' but Delvin Breaux is as close to becoming a "shut down corner" as anyone in the league. He is locking down anything that moves.

My biggest fear with DB40 is pass interference calls.

NFL has been trending towards calling the most insignificant crap, and Breaux can be very physical at times.

*This is not a criticism of Breaux, it's directed towards the ridiculous PI calls the NFL uses to steer games. But they have to be factored in.

At this point in time he is our best player in the secondary, however there are a couple points I hope he is trying to improve on;

He struggled at locating deep passes, often falling over (see the colts game, it's a rough watch...) and he was beaten easily on multiple pick plays near the goal line.

Circle back to his performance last year against Atlanta and Julio Jones.
He was the 2nd highest rated defender behind Cam Jordan with a score around the +12 overall. Just imagine how dominate he'll be with a better pass rush & a healthy Swann & Lewis around him.

Unlike #39 last season, Breaux made huge strides as the season progressed.

Let's put that into perspective ;).

FWIW ...PFF's top 20 corners in 2015. He is ranked before Desmond Trufont, Josh Norman, and Chris Harris Jr.

Do you really think most people on this board do not recognize it is just camp and until the Raiders come to town nothing matters?? Press my agenda? If i am pressing an agenda then wouldn't you be doing the exact same thing in the opposite direction?

It's so funny when people don't agree with the team going 16-0 and winning the superbowl everyone gets their feelings hurt. Do I want that to happen too? Of course! Do i want Breaux to be a top shutdown corner in the league? Of course!
But I also have an ounce of realism about the entire situation. Breaux also got torched at times last year and this defense was epically bad. So you may have to overlook my "pessimism" when it comes to the saints defense being much improved through 5 days of camp.

Every training camp, everything is roses and rainbows. Lets wait until they play a meaningful game before we start crowing them. Right now the defense still scares the bejesus out of me until they prove it
