and Thomas Davis, Jammal Brown, and Travis Johnson are still on the board. who do ya choose?
Here's how as I see it... 1) SF Rodgers QB, others maybe better #1 but they need to rebuild from the core, so it goes to him 2) MIA Cedric Benson RB, until they get Edgerrin James I will think this 3) CLE Alex Smith QB, could be DJ if Crennel wants highest impact defensive player. Ronnie Brown wouldn't surprise here either. Dilfer is a perfect manager for a year (ala Kitna, Warner) while Smith learns the ropes 4) CHI Ronnie Brown RB, with Muhammed this will revitalize their offense 5) TB Cadillac Williams RB, Gruden loves him. A big need, but they have plenty of them like DJ or Rolle could fill too. 6) TN Braylon Edwards WR, they need to fill the loss of 2 cb's (one all-pro) and the leagues leading receiver. Derrick Johnson is still on the board and they might easily find a trade partner (including N.O.) to move down as they want. Edwards is arguably the best overall pick in this draft class. 7) MIN Derrick Johnson LB, they are tempted to replace Moss with Williams. They might have already with a free agent or they could get Williamson or Clayton at pick #18. Best high impact defensive guy on board continues Vikings defensive upgrade. 8) ARZ Antrelle Rolle CB, top 3 rb's and top 2 qb's long gone. Best defensive player on the board gets the nod. 9) WASH Mike Williams WR, good value here. perfect compliment to Santana Moss. 10) DET Pacman Jones CB, best defensive player on board. Could as well be a DE 11) DAL Shawne Merriman DE OLB, a John Abraham clone (which Parcells drafted). Perfect for going to 3-4 12) SD Marcus Spears DL, another great 3-4 guy, great athleticism and character 13) HOU Alex Barron OT, insurance investment for David Carr, pass rusher a second choice here 14) CARO Heath Miller TE, just as easily Jammal Brown but they decide to add another weapon with Muhammed's departure 15) KC Erasmus James DE, they are still very active in free agency so it depends on signings. Looks like need and value meet on defense at this pick Nawlins... Thomas Davis looks like a badass whether he shakes out at SS or LB which could both help. I think he is more SS-like. They wanna fly with Bellamy so even tho I might say yea this FO says nay. Travis Johnson the #1 DT is available but he did just come on last year. Innuendo I have read makes me question his character. Already have a #1 DT like that, so pass. With no more free agent OT's signed and there not being a lot of miles left for Mayberry or Gandy this would be a prudent pick. The New Orleans Saints with the 16th pick of the 2005 NFL draft select Jammal Brown, offensive tackle from Oklahoma. 6'6" 316lbs, Outland trophy winner. Best man on one of the best offensive lines in the country. Dominant plass blocker, could be a LT in NFL. the rest of the story... http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArti...&Q_SEASON=2004 |

not at #16 though, trade down a half dozen spots or so and get him or burnett. crowder is inside too, so that moves watson out. i like burnett olb cuz of that. blackstock in the 2nd round or michael boley in the 3rd are ones i like too.

Crowder is gonna be the ball bustin gamble of the early draft .
Some boards have him up and some boards have him down , some teams have shined him early on because of his Turley like disposition and desire to cause a little trouble . He might be a head case but he has the fire . Get him lined up on Deuce early and Crowder will see the light playin with the big boys . |

i checked 12 major mocks for crowder-
20th was the highest i could find him projected (dallas) 23rd seattle by 3 24th green bay by 4 29th indy by 1 31st philly by 2 32nd new england by 1 why stretch him up when a johnson, davis or even cb could have as much impact and better value? trade down to baltimore #22 should get him. also trade 6th round #178 to them for their 3rd round #84 would even the pick values. |

Of those 3 I\'d be afraid I keep tripping over my tounge trying to get Jammal Brown\'s name to the podium.
He is the only can\'t-miss of those 3 players, IMO. LB\'s 2 thru 6 aren\'t much different potential wise so I\'d wait till round\'s 2 and/or 3 to address that position. |

agreed on LB value range danno.
i\'m just starting to get a feel for who might fit realistic 2nd and 3rd round possibilities. a preliminary #40 pick list might include: 2nd Round CB- bryant mcfadden, fabian washington, corey webster, antonio perkins LB- darryl blackstock, michael boley, rian wallace, barret ruud, lance mitchell, kirk morrison DT- luis castillio, mike patterson c.j. mosley F/SS- brodney pool, ernest shazor, josh bullocks, donte nicholson, jammal brimmer ---------------- i\'m not a big mel kiper fan and don\'t have espn insider but i did just find his latest mock and found it very similar... 1. San Francisco 49ers: Alex Smith QB 2. Miami Dolphins: Ronnie Brown RB 3. Cleveland Browns: Aaron Rodgers QB 4. Chicago Bears: Cedric Benson RB 5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Carnell Williams RB 6. Tennessee Titans: Adam Jones CB 7. Minnesota Vikings: Braylon Edwards WR 8. Arizona Cardinals: Derrick Johnson OLB 9. Washington Redskins: Mike Williams WR 10. Detroit Lions: Dan Cody DE 11. Dallas Cowboys: Shawne Merriman DE/OLB 12. San Diego Chargers: Marcus Spears DE 13. Houston Texans: Alex Barron OT 14. Carolina Panthers: Troy Williamson WR 15. Kansas City Chiefs: Carlos Rogers CB 16. New Orleans Saints: Jammal Brown OT [Edited on 8/3/2005 by LKelley67] |

I don\'t know... I got a feeling Brown will go a bit earlier. Despite what most \"boards\" say. Those boards are no better than us having a mock draft or anyone of us, its just opinions and what we base what we hope and think, unless its actually coming out of teams war rooms i tend to take everything with a grain of salt.

he is still a fit for carolina. i have them taking top te heath as an added target, kiper williamson. watch for lesser fa signings by them for a clues. otherwise any of the 3 could work. i dont see anyone but houston n carolina going OT before n.o. though. others higher have some need but barron would be a push up to get to the top 10. many mocks are just names n numbers but plenty do some research and put thought n effort into it as well. it is possible to find a consensus of who the solid top 10\'s are as well, whether they are picked there or not (ala deuce and smith). war rooms send more smokescreens than legit info imo.
