The poster said he read some years ago that the defense should be beating the offense at this point. while this may have been true years ago, training camp is not the same today. "Full contact" does not mean the same as full contact before the new CBA. The defenses aren't allowed to just go to town on the offense like it used to. The offense has the edge now. That doesn't mean that defenses don't win battles or even all of them. It's just no where near as telling as it used to be. The fact the defense is winning in spite of this is a good thing. None of this is relevant to why the defense has the edge. The defense should have the edge because the offense is based off of timing and that takes time to develop- not because of hitting. |
