Well it's over guys

Having the worst defense in the league that is. It's obvious that we are light years ahead of last year. There were some screw ups and dropped interceptions but overall I think they did pretty well.

Now if we can just get our offense clicking.

O-Line again is going to get Drew killed, Luke found himself running for his life all night.

I'm having flashbacks of Danny Weurffel's backwards helmet. Hopefully the dome is a shot in the arm for them. I feel like they'll come out to play. If not...look out below

Should cut peat... Would be a good wake up call for the rest of them lol

Re: Well it's over guys

Cut Peat, I knew as soon as we drafted him it was bad, I said "who?" when his name was announced

Cut Marcus Murphy, too many fumbles, he muffed a punt last week also.

Happy PJ got a pick, it was a nice play on the ball, especially in the redzone.

We just can't buy a win in preseason can we.

I know preseason isn't everything, I just remember how 09's team was so dominant, even in preseason.

Secondary looked good, some good coverage out there. Not a lot of YAC going on. OL though looks shaky. Could not protect.

Re: Well it's over guys

Y'all do realize Peat has had to play three, THREE, positions since training camp started less than a month ago?!?

Was he bad? Hell yeah, he was that bad...

But Armstead was out and he was at LT, then he moved to RG, then he moved to RT to spell Strief, then he moved to RG, then back to LT...

How many of you mail room clerks could handle being moved from the 3rd floor, then the 15th floor, then the 9th floor with no mistakes within a two week period?

Let him stay at one position for two weeks, then judge...

The guy came in great shape this season and was playing well at LT to all the shuffling started...

Have this feeling that the upcoming Saints season will be good for liquor sales.

Too bad, this org wants multi-position players.

Just........stop. It can also make the other players scared and want to leave as well. I think Payton overworks the players too much. Sometimes players need job security.

Holy cow....do I really want to do this again this season? I love the Saints. They are my team....but damn....they just looked schooled out there.

Re: Well it's over guys

Leilito stunk! He was beat almost every play. The sad thing about it is that Peat is @ LT blocking Clowney as wide as possible and Drew unable to step up cause of the poor play at guard. Peat was bad but most of it came from the result of poor job at guard. Loomis need to find a OG quick even if he have to sign Carl Nicks out of retirement. You pass on a Baton Rouge player in la'el Collin for Murphy at least get a native born Baton Rouge player in Ronald Leary

Re: Well it's over guys

With this o-line our defense needs to be elite in order to reach playoffs. In recent years I never understood decisions regarding offensive line personnel. Their approach is like: " Fu** it, we have Drew Brees, we are fine with average UDFAs"...

brees84 08-21-2016 06:44 AM

Re: Well it's over guys

I don't think Ronald Leary trade is realistic. We don't have much to offer.

If it is Dallas, Tony Romo won't last till Game 2, then we'll have the leverage with McCown...

Grayson has really impressed with his improvement and is ready to spot start at the least...

No offense, but you're onto something. I do not, not for the life of me, understand why in the world we are shuffling him around like he is a utility player. Let the ****ing guy learn a position. Sure if you want him to back up other positions great, but the constant play here, no here, no here... wtf man

I'd like to see Jack Allen as a guard; he's played pretty decent as the 2nd center...

In the offseason, Loomis had a press conference and said that they wanted players that can play more than one position.

I agree. I'd like to see Jack Allen at Guard as well. And I don't care if we have to give up a 3rd or 4th rounder in a trade, we need a Guard. We really need two Guards to be honest.

I don't think we need a trade; my line would look like this:

Armstead|Allen|Unger|Lelito,Turner,Kelemete|Peat

Let Lelito/Turner/Kelemete fight it out next game with the ones for the top spot...

We make playing ball to complicated... Block the guy in front of you. It's not rocket science. Peat got bullied multiple times at different positions. That not an alignment or position issue, that's man on man and getting your ass kicked.

Who do you think would win that battle? And who would you want to see win it?

Peat is just another in a long line of soft offensive lineman from Stanford, this pick looks worse and worse as the days go by

I think Lelito would win it; just because he's started for us before. I'd like to see Turner win it though; I think he has more potential

I didn't like the pick. When we picked him last year I was like "who"?
There were guys on the board that were better than Peat.

That said, I hope he proves me wrong.

Re: Well it's over guys

We need to give Turner a shot with the starting unit. Neither Lelito or the other guy is the answer. At least in Turner we know he can run block.

Guy's it PRESEASON!

Re: Well it's over guys

TURNOVERS are EVERYTHING.

Get rid of the fools either turning the ball over OR creating the opportunity for the defense to create the turnover.

TWO MAJOR THINGS... :jkool:
First.. the defense looks improved but who knows how many injuries it will take to hit major suck mode.

Second.. Payton has used only BS offensive plays. He ain't showing anything. The offensive plays are meant to fail. That will no doubt change in Game 1.

He's had two off-seasons, and a regular season to work at different positions. Lot's of young players get moved around, and offensive line isn't exactly an overwhelmingly cerebral job, no matter which position. Yes, there are certain assignments, but compared to other positions there aren't as many things to learn.

You have to be strong, quick on your feet, take proper angles and use your leverage, etc. He's been bad at all of the fundamentals everywhere he has played. At some point, you just have to admit that the guy is struggling. Unfortunately, I'm not surprised, but I hope he gets it together. That line is by far the weakest link on this entire team, and he still doesn't look like he's going to be able to crack the starting lineup. That's not real good.

Whoa Halo! Take it easy! I don't agree with your statement at all!! If anything, being a Saints fan gives you plenty of excuses to really hit the sauce.

Good hell....Don't listen to him Smash. He's just posturing!

Re: Well it's over guys

The guard play is abysmal. Anyway, back on topic........I think our young corners have a bright future.

The safeties look better than average.

The line backers are as athletic as any group since the Dome Patrol.

Even without our 1st round draft pick our defensive line is getting in the back field on a consistent basis and creating pressure on the QB.

If we can get this unit cohesive in a hurry then we've got something special happening here. I believe we can hold opponents scoring drives down better than we have in a long long time. It's hard to believe but the defense carried the offense last night.

I have no idea if Peat will bust, but the constant moving all over the place can't help, can it? I do not see anyone else on the line doing this.

And to be clear I am not defending him. I have no stake in the game other than the Saints fielding the best line we can. I just don't understand the idea where he is concerned
