Giving up double picks in the draft don't help !! I like the players we drafted but there were good players that could have eased some of the problems we're having. I've wanted to address these problems 3 years and counting. Now 2 have to step up from somewhere to settle the G position this season and RT next season. I don't see much progression in building a solid O-line it's more of right here right now with crossing the fingers and hoping. I'm still not on board with the D, playing solid contenders will tell that tale.

At least we didn't have any injuries. Yea...

I predict we win the 4th preseason game if we don't have 4+ turnovers.

Were all seeing the same thing:
The ball handling is a major concern early on.
Improvement on the D is evident and the key to our success.
SP can fix the Offense that part is in his wheelhouse.
Kicking game again will be a concern.

I say we start Turner and Young with the first team. It can't be any worse than Peat and Strief at this point. I mean, if Strief fails, then Peat slides over. Does anyone feel comfortable with that scenario? We should've taken Collins when we had the chance last draft. This Peat pick will haunt us for the next 2 seasons.

I'd feel okay with Peat at RT; Brees has fantastic pocket awareness and that's not his blindside. Screens in that direction would be marginally better...

If Peat starts at RT, week 1 is Kalil Mack and we'd be putting Brees on IR by the end of the first quarter.

I'm hoping our Oline issues were due to it being pre-season, moving players to multiple positions, not game planning, blah blah blah.
Perhaps it was played that way for specific evaluation purposes only. If what we saw was anything close to what we'll see in 3 weeks, we're in big trouble.

Finally, after the Pats game the coaches put extra emphasis on ball security. And the very 1st time we touch the ball we fumble? Seriously? Payton had to be absolutely furious.

I think Hightower just took the lead for the final RB spot. Murphy better shine brightly in the last two games or I think he's a goner.

Thoughts?
I haven't listened to Payton's Presser but apparently when asked abour Murphy's fumble he said "We'll find another returner...."

If the quote is true, that is pretty much a death sentence to Murphy's time as a Saint.

He is only a kick and punt returner, Payton will not let him on offense when he can't even hold onto a punt.

PJ Williams responded nicely, he's young and growing pains are to be expected. He needed to turn and locate the ball when he got beat but responded nicely later with a pick in the endzone.

Young, hungry and have potential, they will improve.

I think Peat should follow Murphy out the door, never seen a less aggressive looking O lineman in my life.

I think it's too early to give up on Peat, but he's actually looking worse, not better.
What's frustrating is that a good OG is typically easier to find than OT and OC
