Re: First Cuts
Murphy-Cadet? Tough one for me.
I like Murphy better. Seems to be more upside. Cadet's been around...doesn't add anything above what Ingram or Spiller can do. Cadet has been incredibly average. Which isn't a bad thing. Murphy looks better returning punts and kicks than Cadet. Murphy is quicker - and quicker to the north-and-south decision than Cadet. FB position Kuhn has looked good...but Austin Johnson is still young. TommyLee has some fight! Would love to see him stay around. I wish I could mind-melt some of that fight into Brandon Coleman. |

Re: First Cuts
I think you get rid of Murphy and cadet both let Spiller return kicks. Keep high tower and lasco as back up RBs Murphy and cadet are a dime a dozen that can be found anytime if need be.

Re: First Cuts
Tommy Lee Jones Lewis is going to make this team. I don't think there is any room for debate anymore on that. I think he will return punts, and Murphy is gonna be cut. Murphy's only value has been on returns and he hasn't been very good lately. Lewis won't do any worse, and he is better at fielding the punts, which has been Murphy's biggest problem. But Lewis has been impressive on offense as well. I think at worst he is the 4th best receiver we have right now.
Lasco doesn't really impress me with his running ability, but he has been an ace on special teams, and they really struggled in kick coverage last year. So he'll most likely make the team for that reason. Hightower is a better runner than Cadet. If we keep 4 running backs, I would expect Hightower beats out Cadet. I'm really not seeing anywhere where a surprise could happen. I imagine there will be a handful of chin scratching decisions where we'll be just a little caught off guard, but nothing that blows anybody away. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Re: First Cuts
Kikaha and Hoomanawanui to IR. LB Schoettmer, FB Houma, LS Highland, OL Henry, S Golden, CB Brandon Dixon, DE Shaughnessy, and G Eulls seems to be the easy ones.

Re: First Cuts
I see it differently on Marcus Murphy. I just don't see Payton giving up on him in year two. His game is dynamic, great vision and can change field position on any return. If he's cut, I'll be really surprised.
Fumbles are correctable. |
