The rebuilding begun last year on defense. Hired a competent DC in Dennis Allen. How about the rookies playing in 2015? On top of that, we've added new corners, drafted NT (our 1st pick in this years draft) & added two new safeties (Bell & Erik) this year. I'd say defense is already in rebuild mode.

As far as cutting bait, didn't we get rid of Rob & #39?

I can agree the D has jump started in rebuid mode but Allen has proven nothing so far. I don't believe he's all what he's hyped up to be and thats with Payton stacking the deck for him.

I've said it a bunch but if anyone has any value and makes any sense to trade it is Ingram. He's got good enough stock and has shown the ability to carry the load. Blame his lack of production this preseason on the offensive line. It's a good selling point to other teams. Seems like the other backs while unproven have done a better job anyway.
I don't know if it's feasible financially but it makes sense other than that.
I really like Ingram too so don't start with the Bama hate.

Re: TRADE BREES

He will play this year for us regardless but after that is a mystery. If no contract is reached for next season we could franchise him for about 43 million and with a salary cap of 155 million that's very cost prohibitive. Remember Drew will be a year older and will only command high dollars from the win now at all costs teams. All I'm saying is why would a team sign Bree's after this season for a 2 or 3 year contract at premium dollars and then he retires at 40 when they could start a rookie this year and have a franchise QB for 10 to 15 years? They wouldn't. I truly believe they will get him what he deserves but at the same time protecting the teams interest and that's in the best interest of everyone including the fans.

This organizaton did not start caring until Benson took over. As long as SP is here he will look for the next answer at qb. Remember our history was also throwing away talent. We threw away Delhomme, Ricky Williams, Bobby Hebert. The history is the past. The organization made stupid mistakes because the technology for offenses was not available then. That is not our team now.

Also, the saints had a better record in their non-playoff years under Haslett outside of one season than the saints non-playoff years outside of one season. 9-7, 8-8, 8-8>7-9, 8-8, 7-9, 7-9, 7-9.

Euphoria has some valid sentiments, but I just wish Benson/Loomis would sign Brees already so Saints would be front page on ESPN and we wouldn't need this thread.

I say trade him just to satisfy that group of our fans who want him gone. We'll get laughed at by the rest of the NFL, collectively, and return to 3 to 4 wins seasons. Makes sense, right?

Re: TRADE BREES

IMO the only move that makes sense is getting Brees under contract for another 5 years, and continue to build a team around him. We are talking about a Hall of Fame Elite QB with plenty left in the tank. Probably a once in a lifetime QB for the Saints franchise, who by the way until Brees got to town only had maybe a solid QB or two over the course of their entire history. With Brees the Saints will always have some hope, without we are looking forward to top 5 draft picks for the next several years.
