I had a chance to talk briefly with Unger after TC and when I told him that I hoped he would get an extension he gave me this look that basically said "how did you know we were finalizing a deal"? He definitely looked like I caught him off guard. I'm glad he's on board for three more years because he's damn good.

If this season has any look remotely like those seasons, then Payton has to be on the hot seat.

I just don't think management have the balls to admit who the problem really is.

I personally wasn't thrilled that we gave Payton an extension, we haven't had any success in years, I'll gladly take it back if we show up in the regular season but at the minute I'm sceptical to say the least.

However, if the season goes like the last two have or worse, then we need to take a long look at the coaching staff, maybe even clean house.

The only recent addition I'm remotely impressed with is Jeff Ireland as our drafts seem much better.
Yet Swann hasn't made a major contribution yet and Tull is a bust so far.

I wouldn't slap the "bust" label on Tull. He was a 5th round draft selection.

Hard to predict what people will turn into

Tull looked dominant against weaker competition

Marques Colston looked average against weaker competition, he's now our franchise leader in every receiving category.

Drew Brees won't be here come next camp. He's to competitive to be a part of a team and coach that has no fire. He wants to be in a system of winners. At the least a system he can buy into. He's been waiting for his contract to end for a couple of years now.
