So, an 0-3 start
Two back to back 7-9 seasons, defense is worse than last year in terms of points allowed and Brees is once again having to try to score every possession. Payton not getting the team prepared, bad drafts and a failure to stick to schemes (drafting 3-4 players and then switching to a 4-3) has finally caught up with us. Injuries have played a part but cannot be blamed alone, this team is 4-11 in the last 15 home games!! Payton has kept Darymple (strength and conditioning coach), Vitt, McMahon, Dennis Allen and Bill Johnson all in a job when it's obvious that they all suck!! Nothing would make me happier than for Payton to be handed his leaving papers, has anyone changed their mind from when this thread was originally posted by myself? |

We are a very bad 0-3 ... Brees is in top form and looking like far and away the most accurate QB in the league the way Marino once did. It is hard to lose with QB play like this, but somehow it is happening. |

The defense was looking a lot better before all the injuries. We basically had a high school team out there. I understand everyone being upset but we our defense has had more injuries in the first 3 weeks than most teams have all year.

You don't 'coach up' a guy who's been in the league 4 or 5 years and was on the street until you called because you have nowhere else to turn. You don't throw an undrafted rookie free agent up against two of the best wide receivers in the league, in back-to-back weeks, because you want to. You honor what's left on his contract and you give the man an opportunity to correct the problems, hopefully with relatively healthy players, a luxury he has not had lately. That's my .02 |

I don't see us beating anyone at this point. Payton will stay no matter what. He did get us a Superbowl win. Something some of us old timers never thought would happen in our life time.

Re: Is Sean Paytons Job safe if we miss the playoffs?
Im not sure if its time or not.
I would like to see him being a coach with somebody else doing the personnel work before they replaced him. Wether he would agree is another thing. Saying its not fair to judge because of injuries is wrong imo. He constructed a roster that is lost because he lost 2 members of the secondary snd one that had no depth on the defensive line. |
