2017 draft prospects thread

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; No. 44 (R2, 10) LB T.J. Watt , Wisconsin; Height: 6' 4", Weight: 245 lbs. 2nd round talent? I hadn't seen much on Watt last season. Share your thoughts. Side note: I love his size at the LB position....

Major, Watt originally started as a Tight End, so he's athletic with good agility, hands; Badgers had need at OLB/DE, he made the move, only playing position a couple of years; had injuries early on, but showed he's more than healthy, recovered; based on his progression and improvement, most scouting reports feel he still has a high ceiling; common scouting report comments refer to his passion for the football like his siblings; constant evaluation after each other's games via late calls into the night, high traffic texting - not a bad resource to have, a good tight-knit family; he can play as a 3-4 or 4-3 OLB or has the frame to add 25 lbs and play 4-3 weakside DE; already an effective pass rusher despite limited experience and moves, so he'll need to continue to develop moves to become special at the NFL level; does a great job against the run by engaging blockers and using his long arms to avoid getting jammed, often doing the jamming; many feel he can be a starter by the end of his first season in either front; smart player who adapts to in-game to situations and will make plays as attested by his 2016 numbers of 63 TK, 15.5 TKL, 11.5 SK, 4 PD, 2 FF, and 1 INT/TD - these are not fluke numbers. Watt is rated as one of the top edge rushers in this year's NFL Draft and is expected to be an early round selection.

If he tests poorly at the underoos olympics, I'd ignore because he plays faster than he'll time with great instincts; for me, Watt reminds me alot of a playmaking Scott Fujita (if he really works and gets in the right fit, could be every bit as good as a Jack Lambert) and I think he's got the athleticism, just needs experience in pass coverage and his most impact for the Saints will be as a strongside OLB in D.A.'s 4-3 front as a three-down linebacker...JP

He is just like his brother. Freaking reckless wrecking ball. A joy to watch.
only concern is he has always played in 34. Switch should not be that big of an issue. But being a 34 coming out of college with his measurable, I see him as a hot commodity unless he tanks at the combine.

Keep an eye on

"A clean medical check on that "cracked foot" during the draft process figures to be crucial to his stock"
Lacks the name reconnection but this kid can play.

Vince Biegel is to T.J. Watt as Ryan Anderson is to Tim Williams

If the meds check out I would feel comfortable with our OLB being
Ryan Anderson
