this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; What was Brees annual cap number before this? There's history against one era teams with one SB/elite playoff run. Just saying. We better be good beyond Brees whenever that is or we will only stay with our one ring....

$20M per year over the past 5 years, but you can't read this.

Re: Saints & Brees re-start contract negotiations
He averaged like 20 million per year on his current contract. His guaranteed money was actually on the lower end for QB's. I think he was near 40% guaranteed where as other QB's were in the 50-60% guaranteed range.

I might be the only one on here but I wouldn't sign Brees to a big contract at his age.

Re: Saints & Brees re-start contract negotiations
I agree about his work ethics, undeniable. But so is father time, undeniable. A 4yr contract puts him at 42 1/2 yrs. old. Payton is all about an aerial attack, stretching the field and so on, for Brees to play at even a decent level at that age would be more of a ground and pound O with short to intermediate passing game. I don't see it. I want be changing my mind wheather the Saints sign him to a big contract or not, but I will root for the Saints with or without Brees pulling the trigger even if I think it's a good move or not.

I do understand your concern and respect your opinion though. I do think that 4 yrs. should be max for him.
