My point is that last year we weren't even competitive. We are not the same team as last year. After preseason, I was expecting to lose this game by a big margin, and I think that there's hope to improve - I didnt have that feeling last year. I dont care what the yardage says. We played our asses off.

You do realize you and AsylumGuido are the ones telling people to leave or shut up, and not talking football. Just an observation. Really not sure why either of you are fighting other fans at all.

And this Bandwagon thing is way over played. The wheel fell of that wagon 2 years ago. Silly thats still in use. Not you pal just other people are using it.

My opinion is a little different. Thought offense did well enouph to win
Special teams, the kicker ( Lutz might be changed to Putz soon), D folded because of injuries, could not cover or make pressure, and SP needs to keep his nose out of D plays. SP lost us the playoff game vs 49ers when he made the D blitz continuously and we got burned. I think that might have happened here.

Yeah I figured it was more so it could have been worse for us that held Oakland back a lot too

I agree w everything you said except where you accuse me of telling people to leave or shut up. Please review this thread and highlight my quotes where I said any of that, and I'll apologize. I've never asked anyone to leave, and I'll admit I've wanted to tell people to stfu, but I dont think you'll find any of that from me. On thebKaepernick thread I posted that there was one member here who would fit in better on the other site, but thats about it.

I think the O-line really stood up to the test for the most part. Really bright spot in my book

I'll give you that, the Offense definitely looked batter than I had expected. The O line held up for the most part. But the D...man..It's just downright disgusting. It takes all shine on what the Offense did. I don't blame anyone for not seeing the bright side after this game. This was a win, that we gave away. It stings and people are pissed and I cant fault them.

(not directed at you Champ) All you other holier than thou people need to get off your high horse or go ahead and ride your ass out of here. Last time I checked this is a PUBLIC forum. If you can't stand the heat, get out. People can be as pissed as the want to be.

Its all cool man. We are all pretty pissed and disapointed. I dont think this has to go any farther. Hell if Iwas drunk Id be ranting right now,lol .Always respected you 44 and Asly. Just interested in what you thought of the game.
I was a real heart breaker for me.

Yeah I was impressed. Though Brees was moving well or they would have had more sacks I thought. Im not sure how good the Raiders front 4 is though.

Thank you pherein and CM - I have no hate for anyone here and how boring this site would be if everyone left or if everyone just agreed with each other. It's easy sometimes to be disrespectful and argumentative here - I know I've been guilty. We just have to remember that we're all saints fans here and frustrated by this loss.

Great teams find ways to win. The Raiders are not a great team, we just found a way to lose like we have for 3 straight seasons.

Laurinitus should not be starting, Stephone Anthony is much, much better than him.

Back in the day we used to find ways to win, even when it was improbable. I agree.

Re: Game Day - Opening Day: Oakland Raiders vs New Orleans Saints

No adjustments by the DC. It didn't take but 1/2 a game for Oakland to figure him out. It's not the players. Jim Scwarts( I'll use him because he's a 4-3 guy just one of many out there) would be able to take the same players we have and create a decent D. Allen changes Anthony from a MLB to an OLB because he don't think Anthony is the answer in the middle and brings in a slower aging veteran stunting any type of hope or impact Anthony could have. I didn't like the Anthony pick but he has grown some on me but to do what Allen done hurt him. Allen is a very unproven DC and for Payton to bring him in the first place wasn't the smartest move to begin with. He don't have anywhere the coaching ability as a Gregg Williams, he's the low man on the totum pole as far as DC's go.

I'm not sure if I can continue to be so heavily invested in the games every week. It just hasn't been worth putting other things in life on hold to make sure I don't miss the game.

I disagree. The Raiders are an extremely good team that most pundits and publications picked to win the AFC West this season with a deep playoff run. They have talent at several positions on offense and most positions on defense. We stood up well but didn't get the job done. They were a great team today to find a way to win and go for two and win the game.

Especially when they mess up like today, it puts me in a grumpy mood and literally kills any motivation I have.

I Agee Oakland is pretty good team to overcome 145 in penalties and double digest deficit to win

I also think Oakland is a good team. I also agree with they found a way to win. They beat our D.

I'm saying this to be friendly - it's not worth it.
Football isn't worth putting anything in life on hold. You may need a break. Be sure to take time off, even if it's just tuning it out during the offseason.

Years ago, I had to stop investing myself emotionally into my teams and found other things to do. Suddenly my personal and professional life improved.

I look at football as a journey rather than a sprint. Try to enjoy the game but don't put it in front of life - this is how you will get perspective. Football will always be there when you return - your "life" on the other hand may not be so go live it, even if you have to do it without football.

Well said saint fan. Credit to the raiders for pulling a win from defeat, but this was a real hard game for all fans to swallow. Ive gone over top a couple times.

Re: Game Day - Opening Day: Oakland Raiders vs New Orleans Saints

I thought the game was a lot better than most people thought it was going to be.

The defence is young, they will learn.

Credit to Lutz for handling a lot of pressure on young shoulders and he nearly won us the game. That was a great effort from 61 yards out.

It seemed strange following the game on Game Pass and listening to the Saints Radio station without Hokie being on there. He would have had plenty to say about todays game, God bless him.

Anyway, we still have 15 more games to play, so think positive. The season isn't over just because we are 0-1. Also, the Panthers and the Falcons lost today.

GEAUX SAINTS

I think JP touched on it earlier but what the hell was JOHN JENKINS doing on that long running TD up the gut? He was tossed around like a rag doll.

No way this guy should be re signed. He's not a very good player.

Well, that is a good point. Im beating up on Lutz, but SP probably should have punted instead of giving field possition when he knew are D was struggling.

I'll be interested in Coach Payton's comments as it relates to Spiller (inactive today).

Maybe we package him in a trade for Aqib Talib.

That was sarcasm SS however what we have out there at cornerback isn't gonna get it done. Especially now that Breaux is injured.

I'd like to see the dB's play closer to the line of scrimmage though tired of seeing them 10 yrd off get some jam ups off the line give the rushers a second or two long to get to the qb

Did you watch he defense and coaching? If not for Drew we would of got smashed. This season is turning out to be a continuation of last year. It may have only been preseason but this is 5 straight loses. This is SP MO, Great offens wth a defense of scabs. Am I pissed? You are damn right. No improvement from last year thus far.

If the Saints are going to just sit CJ, they may as well shop him for a corner because this game is TOO BIG for Crawley. He simply isn't ready. Period.

Our defensive line was bad ... really bad. Maybe once Rankins returns in a month or so, he will provide some fire inside the trenches. Looking at the schedule, we are gonna require a lot of luck because our depth is going to be tested teams far better than Oakland every Sunday.

One injury (Breaux) could really hurt us long term.
