Trade Mark Ingram!?!

I know the Saints FO Isn't reading this but I think they should trade Mark Ingram now then Draft Fournette next year in the draft to give our future QB a Future RB as well...then after that pick O-line D-line(Pass Rush) DB in no particular order, it looks as though he's going to have another pedestrian season so why not get something for him now whether it be picks, players or both draft your future RB in 2017 and ROCK OUT from there

Re: Trade Mark Ingram!?!

Running back position isn't the most urgent need, but I would not pass up Fournette if he is available when the Saints draft in 2017. If the Saints could possible get some decent return for Ingram, I would say pull the trigger and let Hightower finish the year as the featured back.

Re: Trade Mark Ingram!?!

And what makes you think the Saints would play Fournette differently than Ingram?

Or that Fournette would play better than Ingram?

Re: Trade Mark Ingram!?!

I would be furious if we drafted Fournette.

Re: Trade Mark Ingram!?!

As much joy as it would give me to have a player of his caliber in our backfield, we would have to absolutely tank to get him. He won't necessarily be the top pick, even though he's the best player, but I can't imagine him slipping past 3 or 4. We'd have to give up too much to trade up, and that isn't worth it for the overall good of this team, in my opinion.

Of course, if the Saints never get healthy, they could easily be in the top 5. If they get healthy, I don't see worse than a 7-9.

Re: Trade Mark Ingram!?!

Out with Bama in with LSU? Not very likely...

One, it'd alienate our Gulf Coast fans in Alabama...

Two, we all know Payton hates LSU players... :roflmao:

Three, we need a top tier defensive end more than anything... :saintsfan:

Re: Trade Mark Ingram!?!

The way Ingram is playing we could trade him and lean on Hightower and Lasco the rest of the way in my opinion.

I've been one of his biggest supporters for years, but when a guy who's been out of football for 4 years (hightower) is ripping off 12-15 yard runs on his first few carries and ingram is tripping over for 2 yards a pop it might be time to look elsewhere.

Deserves better? He's making 4 million a year to be one of the most average RB's in the league.

Explain please.

In all fairness, Hightower was much more effective in the KC game and ingram hasn't had very good rushing totals for a while.

Hightower vs KC - 5 carries, 39 yards, 7.8 average
Ingram last 3 games; 18 for 56 yards, 16 for 51 yards and 16 for 62 yards.

Ingram is getting plenty of carries, but when he is running into the lineman, tripping over or just not picking a gap he is barely gaining 3 yards a carry, whereas Hightower was ripping off runs of 7-8 yards each time.

Wait..so you guys don't like Ingram's signature moves of running into his blockers & tripping over grass? I must be in the wrong site!

Because they are two different RB's and Fournette is better

Name the scenario where a trade would actually work within both salary caps, even if it was logical. There are tons of factors involved that most fans, and lots of Pretend GM's fail to consider when banging on their pans and protesting.

Is 4 million a year really that much? I mean these days anyway? I like Ingram. And no I'm not a Tide fan. I think he's a quality back when he's actually used. I guess the fumble was pretty lame but that's rare for him.

Let's see? He is the tied as the 15th-16th highest paid RB in the NFL. The NFL has 32 teams. His pay is the NFL average per team.

There you go!

And this is exactly why I think he deserves better. We've got some really dumb fans.

I'd say who wants him, and I'm not saying that to get Fournette either. I just don't think he's all that. MAYBE he is, but we will never see it. ( trade him for someone on defense )
Again year in and year out I say the same thing.... defense defense defense. And still they all suck.

he's not. He isn't bad, but he has no burst and isn't something that can't be replaced.

You could not be more wrong. He has excellent burst, he doesn't have top end speed.

He still has one of the best ever burst measurables (0-10 yards) in NFL combine history.

Yeah, uh okay, no one said he was great. But to say he has 0 burst shows a complete lack of NFL knowledge.

There you go!

4 million is a large number for a running back in this league of passing. Do you think Ingram is the 16th best back? He's a backup. He's not a top 30 running back, period.

So again, how does he deserve better, when he is paid well over value? I'll give you another crack at it.

Re: Trade Mark Ingram!?!

Fan hate? Really? Nothing else?

I know it has always pained you to hear criticism of your bama players, but this is Saints football we're talking about, and it wouldn't matter to me if he were from LSU. Ingram is not the first player to come under fire for underwhelming play.

If he goes to another team and runs into the back of his linemen, those fans will criticize him just as loudly and probably more.

We have some pretend GM's who pretend to be GM's (you). This is getting old.

You know what a football burst is? It's about finding the hole quickly, making a decisive move and accelerating. It's not about lining up in shorts and running 10 yards past a few cones. Ingram picks and plods his way around and misses holes as much as anyone I have seen. Give him a big enough hole and he'll run through it, sure. Is that a skill? He has good strength to push through piles but is easily tripped, which shows a lack of balance and awareness.

He's not a bell cow. He's best suited in a complimentary role, in my opinion. His supporters (such as yourself) have said for a while now that he needed more carries. Well... He's getting them now. Does he look any different?

yep, 4 million is a lot to drop when you can get the same from an undrafted rookie

Fournette will not be a very good player in the NFL.

Still saying that, huh? Ok, wise guy... Give one reason why? Because of the school he attends? Because he doesn't run for 284 yards in every game? He doesn't run over enough players or out run entire defenses often enough?

Ingram lacks vision, which was never a problem in bama...

Well Guido, you keep doing it... I tried to have hope for you, but you'll officially be the first person on my block list. Congrats, because you earned it!
